Hi everyone :)
Does anyone know for sure when (week) one can find out the baby's sex??? Is this done at an ultrasound or via a blood test?
Thanks

Best time is 18-22 weeks and done via an u/s
Some places will tell you at 12 weeks....but they are rare!
Ditto what Kim said.
If you end up needing or having a CVS you cand find out from that also, which is normally due to high nuchal fold test. U/S normally from 18 weeks, a skilled sonographer may be able to tell you earlier, but likelihood of inaccuracy then increases.
Normally by ultrasound and you can have a sex determination scan done by a 4d imaging company from 16 weeks, the local one here charges around the $150 mark from memory. Only drama with scans is they can be wrong, more cases of it's a girl who turns out to be a boy than vice versa! So far I've been told the sex at my 20 week scan and they've been right both times and i'm praying that there right this time!
You can also have an amniocentesis test done, which is completely acurate, not sure when these are done, as i've never had one! I think one of the side effects is miscarriage tho.
Hope this helps and good luck with it!

yep after 18 weeks sometime. Tho from experience its best to wait until ur over 20 weeks. HTH
Oh...thats interestng...maybe i will have a boy then!! LOL:

So far they were right with my last DD :)
Agreeing with everyone. You need to have a 20 week scan anyway so if you can hold out that long - thats when most find out.
Sounds like I can find out at the 20 week scan! Woohoo! How exciting! :)
thanks ladies!
:)
They can't always tell you the sex at the 20 week scan though as sometimes bub is positioned in such a manner that they can't see between the legs. Regardless of when you get it done ultrasound is not 100% accurate so it could be wrong. My neighbour had 8 scans during her pregnancy - all said boy and it turned out to be a girl. The only way to know for absolute sure is via CVS or amnio and you'd only get those done if you have a bad NT scan result at 12 weeks (if you are having that done).
We found out at 13 weeks via CVS... yes it was due to high NT measurement... if you have been living under a rock and not seen any of my posts/blogs/rants about it
Gee we become selfish creatures when something goes wrong, don't we?
Anyway I'm glad we found out that way, having since heard stories of things going wrong with u/s readings!!! We are 100% assured the sex is correct - we had to get some positive out of the whole nasty CVS thing!!!! :D
I had a 4D ultrasound done at 16 weeks and you could clearly see my DS's "bits"
.....19-20 weeks is the norm, but of course bubs must be co-operating musnt they ???:
Does anyone know for sure
My 3rd pregnancy i was desperate to find out the sex. But bubs had legs firmly shut....sonsographer really couldnt have cared less , but i was devastated. So i booked in for another ultrasound (at my expense, not thru medicare which only allows you 1 scan during 18-22 wks).....
So whilst you may have the timing right, baby might have other ideas, just warning you.
Generally at the halfway mark. I found at 19 weeks and they told me I was having a girl but my intuition tells me I'm having a boy. Now I'm really confused! That's why they never give 100% accuracy.
