SLEEP OVER!!!
Tonight dp and I are having a night without dd, she's going to the IL'S for a sleepover and i've been excited about it allll week, having a night off. But now the day has come im sad :( I've never spent more than 2 hours without her. So my question is, when was your first night away from your baby and how did you cope... Im trying not to let it get the better of me and just cancel cause we've planned to have people over for drinks..
Oskar hasn't had a sleep over yet...lol. Joshua was around 5ish months I think and I called EVERY hour...hahaha.... !!
No sleepovers here yet either LOL. Just haven't had a need! Altho our anniversary is coming up, so I might try and palm off at least DS to nana's house for the night :)
Sleep overs haven't appealed to me, coz I would have to spend the night off expressing LOL. Easier just to have the baby there to feed. hehehe.

Awh. I'd be the same as you. I'd be so excited the time came around I'd be so worried and probably be crying. Lol.
DS1 hasn't had any sleepovers as such. The only time we weren't sleeping in the same place was when I had DS2. I cried and worried through my pregnancy about it too. I'm such a sook.
I hope you have a great time with just you and your partner, and your little girl is good for the ILs.

i think with DD it would have been my 21st so she was just over 4 months, and tommorow night will be the first night away from DS, i know i will msg my mum plenty to check lol but i know everything will be ok.

DS is having his first sleepover in a couple of months. We're going to a family wedding in the country. I'm really looking forward to it, but I'm sure I will miss him heaps and text/call my mum all evening! We would have sent him for sleepovers earlier, but he doesn't sleep through and I feel bad for my mum to have to get up to him LOL.
I'm hoping it will be the start of a long tradition ;)
Well we have had a few attemps at sleep overs which have ened up in Dp and I going and picking Annabelle up as mum said "She's just not settling." :rolleyes:
But one night where she was meant to sleep over I kept thinking of her but knew she was in good hands and if worse came to worse Id just go pick her up. Which in the end at 2am is what happened:rolleyes:
But Im very nervous also Kirsty_Lee as my 21st party and 'night out' is on the 26th of September and a sleep over will HAVE to happen. So you'll have to let me know how to cope through a HOLE night without her ;)
Dont forget it's you break and DD is very safe! And will have a nice refreshed mummy once you have that night off. Also it's DD break from mummy :lol: she can get up to all sorts of things :hug:

Well my first sons sleep over (apart from when I was in hosp having siblings :lol: ) He was 6 and I cried myself to sleep :(
infact just the other week my 2 eldest had a sleep over at the inlaws it was my ds 2 first sleep over and I cried.. I am not good with being separated.. thier empty beds make me cry
I even cried each night I was in hospital having babies :lol:

its a really emotional time isn;t it? When DS was 4 months old we went out for tea without him for the first time and left him with my Mum. The whole time we were out i had such awful anxiety, i very nearly passed out at one stage, i didnt enjoy myself at all! Its only just now that i can happily and comfortably leave him for a few hours and not worry at all, but even then i will only leave him with my parents or sisters.
It will be hard for you, but i bet bub wont be worried in the slightest! The bond we mothers have with our bubs is just so strong, it can be hard to let go even for a couple of hours. Don't feel that you have to leave her if you really are feeling uncomfortable without her. Only a few months ago my mum had DS overnight while we went out. I ended up going home to mums at 9:30pm and taking him home! I felt so weak and silly doing that, but my mum made me feel better by saying that DS is my child and i can do what i want with him, its not a bad thing to love your child so much!

DD's first sleepover was when DP & I had the flu so badly we couldn't move off the couch so my mum came and took DD for a couple of nights. DP and I were so sick that we didn't even have the capacity to worry. So although it wasn't optimal circumstances, the outcome of DD having a ball and being really good was great and meant that we didn't worry so much with subsequent sleepovers.
I know exactly how you feel! You look forward to it but when the time comes it is very different.
I guess you handle it by knowing that they are in the hands of someone you trust, and who will call you if there is a problem. Make sure they know all of the things they need to know and have everything they need to have. And then just try and relax. It really seems with most kids that they don't miss you until they see you at pick up time. I am sure she will have lots of fun.
Ive only just recently let my 4yr old DD stay at my mum and dads place (grandma and pa). I found it reallllly hard to let go and even cried that night to DH.
It wasnt the fact that i couldnt trust my mum or dad, it wasnt the fact she would cry for me in the night (coz she wouldnt)...i think it was another realisation that my first baby is growing up...
to be quite honest it didnt worry me too much when DS had his first sleep over i was happy because i knew he was in good hands (my mum) although it did feel weird not having him there.
Cooper is having his first sleepover in Sep, at my mums, though I hope he wont be 2 bad as she is having the 4 kids while we go to sil wedding she is thinking of having my sisters 3 the same night so dont think the kids will sleep anyway.
Paige's nanny and poppy live 2-3km around the corner, so I was calm in the sense that I could just go and get her if there was any problem.
I got fidgetty during the dinner/bath and bedtime hours...but after that I was fine!!
The first one is the hardest!
My DD was meant to sleep over at the inlaws when i went in for my laparoscopy, but I just couldn't do it, LOL. So you are doing alot better then me.
