Hi ladies..
I had my doc appointment the other day baby is measuring 2-3 weeks bigger. Now i am worrying about having a VBAC due to scar rupture etc becasue bubba is bigger?
Am i worrying about something silly???
If i cut myself on my arm.. a year later try and tear it open... well its impossible.... so i am thinking this is the same with my C-sec scar!!!

i haven't had a caesar previously, but would think that the size of the bub shouldn't influence any risk very much at all. i assume when you were told bubs was measuring ahead it was from an ultrasound and hopefully not just fundal height?? Both have got a fair bit of give in them for error.
Just remember that measuring ahead just means a bit bigger than the ?verage"size baby, not what is normal for you!
My first DS was 4.125kg, so I understand questioning your body :)

DS was over 8.14lbs and my husband was 12lbs.... GOD HELP ME!!! I sure hope not..
I am being super super concious of what i am eating... as i dont wnat to put on any extra Kg i dont have too!!!!!

Both my girls measured well over their dates, around 2-3 weeks. I had a scan when jovie was 10 days post EDD and she measured 10lb 11oz. She was my VBAC and came out 8lb 13oz. Now, I didn't consider her a big baby as DD1,my c/s baby was 9lbs.
Hey hun, I know I posted in the VBAC thread too but just wanted to pop in again and reassure you that our bodies know what they are doing and unless there is some other condition involved like GD your body will nurture and grow a baby that you can birth! There is absolutely no evidence that a bigger baby puts more strain on the scar tissue - I just had a quick flick through Silent Knife (if you can get a copy do it hun! ) and there isn't anything major mentioned at all about size of baby when talking about the possible risks of VBAC(alot of which are perceived and not real risks anyway). Did you have a scan or is the 1-2 weeks ahead that they are saying based on fundal height measurement? It really is not an exact science, so even if they say you are measuring 1-2 weeks bigger it is a rough guide and if bub was in a certain position you could measure bigger than if bub turned to a slightly different position. Also if another midwife or ob came in to do a measurement they could be off by up to 1-2cms as well so don't stress too much!
As I mentioned Isabelle was 8lB13oz and this time around I have been measuring 3-4 weeks bigger at each appointment! I figure part of it is also having 2 pregnancies rather close together and my stomach muscles definately don't have the strength and tone they did before.

Only your fundus (Uterus) is measuring 2-3 weeks ahead, your baby on the other hand is growing as big as it is meant to grow, and if that means that it is going to be a 'big' baby then so be it. Makes no difference to the way you birth them. Your uterus is still going to contract exactly the same way it would if you were having a small baby.

all ive been told is... u grow a baby u can birth. If they are saying bubs bigger now then dont stress coz ur body can do it :)
Someone who came into the centre on a Monday a couple of weeks ago was booked in for a c/s on the Tuesday. She'd had a c/s for twins as she didn't know any better and listened to the Ob and this time she was also diagnosed with borderline GD, so they wanted a c/s. She had an induction massage, watched the Business of Being Born, followed by induction acupuncture, went home, had a HBAC without a tear... 4.4kg, 55cm long and perfectly healthy. She said it was so empowering she would do it all over again in a heartbeat... when she could be recovering from her c/s with twins, instead, she feels on top of the world and so accomplished. Giving it a go and believing in what your body was designed to do has great rewards!
Niliac here also had a great VBAC with a big bubba without stitches or drugs too and so have other clients of mine. Not only do they surprise themselves that they have their VBAC but they find they don't have tears, drugs and other things too. Believe! :)
