Anyone sick of these 3 questions?

First of all I sincerely apologise to anyone who I asked this because now I know how annoying it is!!!!

1. Does she sleep through the night?
2.Is she crawling YET (without a huge emphasis on this)
3. Does she eat solids

Now if it comes up in a perefectly normal conversation I don't have an issue. But when they are asked like that by perfect strangers giving disapproving looks...:wall:Of course I am a bit sensitive there because ATM I can answer a big fat NO to all of them!! But there are reasons!

1. No - we like her to party with us night - her favourite is the shopping channel at 2am!
2. No - we don't believe in babies being allowed to move - we make sit in a highchair all day
3. No - I have always wanted to breastfeed till she's at least 9 and solids would get in the way of that goal!

No - in all seriousness our DD is doing fine. Yes a bit behind in the crawling but she still moves. So anyone else annoyed by these or other questions?

P.S. I'm sure if you ask me in 3 weeks I will not be as annoyed!!:D

A big fat yes to being sick of those questions, although not so much these days. I have to confess that to the outside world, which included my mother, I tend to, well, lie, or at least gloss over the stuff that I don't want to focus on. It's probably only my BellyBelly friends who know the real story. My DS is starting to give me better overnight sleeps, but only occasionally more than about 6 hours, and has only really decided that solids were the go for the last month, maybe 2 months. Before that he was completely bm obsessed. He still is to a large degree, but I know he won't be forever like this, so I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

Oh Jordie - just wait, there are ALWAYS three annoying questions! The number four to yours is 'Is she a good baby?' (So far she hasn't been brought home in a police car, so fingers crossed...!).

Toddler years:
1. Is she walking yet?
2. Are you STILL breastfeeding? (There are numerous variations on this one...)
3. You mean she still wakes up during the night???

The 'still' questions seem to be the most annoying... And don't even get me started on toilet training!

I tend to ignore questions like that (being on my 4th child now!!) but with my first two, yes, they annoyed the crap out of me! Especially as my DD (#2 child) didn't start to crawl until about 14-15 months old! But on the plus side, she was walking by 17 months old! (my eldest was walking by 11 months, so there were great expectations from family for DD) :rolleyes:

:grouphug: i hate the "r u still bfing" q's... especially from my MIL...

i got it with DS with the crawling, walking, talking crap... its annoying, certainly know how u feel.

In the early days I hated:

"Are you breasfeeding?" (why does this matter to anyone????)
"Are you still breastfeeding?" (from people who knew I was having trouble)
"Was it a natural birth?" (So what if it wasn't?????)

I know I'm going to be really annoyed with:

"Is he on solids yet"? or "Why isn't he on solids yet? so and so was on solids by this age"
"Why don't you try him on wheat bix (or some other type of food)?"

I keep telling people I will only introduce rice cereal at 4 months if he's ready for it but most other foods will be introduced from 6 months onwards. It seems that this isn't satisfactory for some people in our families so I know there will be comments and questions. I just know it's going to drive me mad.

It still amazes me every time I hear it!!!

Get ready for

"Is she still in nappies/ Is she Toilet Trained yet?"

Oooohh yep - very frustrating! Now she is a bit older I get, Oh is she talking yet? I feel like saying "yep, plus she is a member of Mensa - doesn't need naps anymore, cooks her own dinner and is all grown up! " :rolleyes:

Another question that really annoys me that usually comes from my side of the family is. "Gee, she seems to have lost weight, are you feeding her properly"?

OF COURSE I AM! (sorry for the caps ladies =)

I'm thinking of going into the t-shirt business, you know, the one's that have little phrases written on them. My DS's one would say:

NO I'm not walking yet and YES I am still breastfed!!!

And btw, she's not very skinny. Chubby but not as chubby as before and I cant force feed her either because she uses her tongue to poke out the bottle, which is rather cute.

I totally understand all these frustrations. My mum only BF me and my brothers for a few weeks so at about 6weeks she would ask " Are you feeding him still" My comment was " No I am letting him starve, of course I am feeding him, Am I BF, yes".
Of course the fact he isn't sleeping through the night (waking 3hourly atm :doh:) and was really unsettled one night and wouldn't go to sleep when she was on the phone I got " Is he hungry?, maybe you need to feed him more ?". I just kept saying if he doesn't want the boob when I rub the nipple over his lips I don't think he wants any more.
I have learnt the hard way the less information you give anyone the better:p

I also hate it when people (strangers) assume the gender - with all 3 of my boys, I got (and am getting) "how old is she?" and with DD all dressed in pink and frills, I got "how old is he?"!!!! :rolleyes: Are some people blind or just ignorant?? :p

Any sentence with the word "still" or "yet" in it gets ignored by me. At toddler group there's a woman with a girl a month younger than DD who has been out of nappies for 4 months. DD is still getting used to the potty. I am sick of hearing about it! Her DD is the youngest of 3 and is clearly excited to be like her big sister, DD is an only child as yet. Plus DD is advanced in many ways and clearly her ability to control wee is not a reflection on her general faculties!

Woman: is she STILL in nappies!?
Me: yes
DD: that says cow mama! (pointing at word "cow" in a book)
Me: that's right baby, cow! :)
Woman: HOW old is she?
Me: 28 months.
Woman: Mine were ALL WAY out of nappies by then.
DD: (counts out 17 paper stars to stick down)
Me: oh.
Woman: Are you worried about it?
Me: um...
DD: Mama, look, a joey! (points to baby in rubber kanga's pouch, which for some reason is part of the "farm" set)
Me: yes, a joey in her mama's pouch. Don't put glue on it sugar...
Woman: I'd be worried sick...
Me: (lost my rag now) Yes, well i imagine by the time she's at uni, in about 6 years by the looks of things, she'll have mastered the potty.

Honestly how obsessive can you get! Maybe her kid doesn't know her numbers or colours because only poopy-in-a-potty gets celebration in their house?

Hoob (straight-faced): No, she's not using the toilet, she's developed a system where all of her waste products are converted into energy-producing environmentally-friendly substances, but to do that she INSISTS we have to collect them in a nappy.
