We have friends coming over for lunch on saturday, and I am not sure what to make.
I know it seems a silly question, but does anyone have any ideas, other then a BBQ?
We will be 8 adults.
Thanks :)

You could get a range of deli meats (ham, chicken, salami) etc and salad and people can make own rolls.
Quiche
Lasagna
Pies
Yum cha (mini spring rolls dim sims etc)
Baked potatoes (have garlic butter, cheese, sour cream, slasa, colewlaw, bacon, onion etc for people to make there own)
I love having roast chook rolls.
Mexican banquet... well thats what we do at our house LOL! You can BBQ the meat on the BBQ, do home made fajitas on the BBQ and the rest have prepared before....
Lunches can be heaps more informal, so rolls and build your own rolls is a great idea with a few different sorts of salads.
You could do themes.... turkish with tabbouleh and hummous and falafel rolls, or do kebabs....
We did this a couple of weekends ago except it was for 10.
We did the roll thing as well. We had a huge spread of cold meats, cheeses, dips, spreads and other deli goodies and everyone just made their own rolls. Cheapest and easiest way to please everyone.
 I'm another one for LASAGNE ... Be so hard to please ' 8 people ' & who doesn't like lasagne I ask ;)
make it interesting by adding some vegies like sliced mushrooms, sliced brocolli florets, grated carrot and of course the usual diced onion ...
give them the option of grated tasty or parmesan cheese in a couple of nice little glass bowls to keep them cold ...
I buy the Safeway brand twin pkt garlic slicd bread (is no more than $2)... even my friend's hubby who is a chef loved it that much now he buys it when he has guests over :D
AND a couple of bottles of cheap Lambrusco red wine ... must be an Italian one ;)
The trick is to make a meal easy for yourself to make because you want to ENJOY the day too (not too much slaving over the stove, LOL)
it really depends on how formal you want to go
we do either the rolls thing as has been suggested, soup and sandwiches (same principle with sandwiches, but add soup as well), soup and crusty bread rolls (couple different soups if you want, to meet everyones taste)
mexican feasts are good
ummmmm, we're a bit formal in that if we have a lunch like that, i tend to do roast with some baked spud and vegie bake. always a hit! and it's our big meal for the day! we cook a decent roast lamb and a beef, vegie bake costs next to nothing to make, and the spuds, if you really want it easy, you can buy frozen and just chuck on an oven tray!
bbq is always an option :)
Thankyou so much ladies :)
Typical though, I asked everyone (our friends who are coming) what they thought and they said a BBQ, lol. So a BBQ it is.
I will keep your ideas in mind for next time though :)
