Sex and Spotting???

I would sometimes get a very small spot - only ever when wiping on the toilet - after sex when I was pg. The way it was explained to me is that there is increased blood flow to the area when you are pg and sometimes if you aren't properly lubricated then (and sometimes when you are) you can get small abrasions from the friction and with all the capilliaries close to the skin surface, they break easily and cause a tiny amount of bleeding. So in MOST cases it is nothing to worry about, but if accompanied by heavier bleeding and cramping, then you should get it checked out.

Also, sometimes your DH can kind of 'bump' your cervix. This has happened a couple of times to me, and I know I have cells on the outside of my cervix that bleed easily (know this from having pap smears). So even when not pg, I can occasionally get spotting after sex.
I'd probably just have a chat to my GP if I were in your sitch. Just get some reassurance either way.

I have a retroverted uterus and hence hubby bumps my cervix nearly every time we have sex, but it has never caused bledding before. Maybe it is just a pg thing?

DH and I have decided to abstain untilt he second trimester.
THis is because...
i have a history of miscarriage
i have a history of threatened miscarriage
i have bled VERY heavily after sex during my two successful pg's (once in each, then we chose to abstain)
i have bled heavily after just 'fooling around' without penetration
i was recently feeling a little excited after a s3xy dream. woke up and had started bleeding.
Yes we are both feeling a bit frustrated and snappy, but the well being of our baby is the most important thing. I am blessed with an extremely patient and understanding DH.
BUT. everyone is different, this is just my story.

Thanks for the replys... I have decided he can go without!! I am too tired to even think about it at the moment anyway!! As i have a chance of miscarriage due to my auto immune disease i think we shouldnt take any unneseccary risks anyway... Chasing my 2YO is challenging enough!! Thanks again!!

Phew, glad I found this forum. I am 8 wks with my 1st, and I had a bit of spotting after sex the other nite and freaked for a bit. But all was fine the next morning. Was reassuring to see this thread, and know that it is not unusual.
Thanks Ladies ;)

Hi and welcome to BB MissD :)

i had the same thing happening for me during my 1st preg but it is a rather common thing as the cervix gets used to the changes. if its just slightly pinkish, should be fine unless it really bleed then u best check with the doc.
2nd time around, no problems at all.
