Waking up night tantrums 15 month old - usual good sleeper

What could be wrong with him he is usually such a good boy when it comes to bed time, fior the last 3 weeks he has been waking up at all different times - no consistant time frame and having a full blown hysterical tanty - if i pick him up hes ok - if i lye him back down as i usually do if he doesnt go sleep straight away at bed time he throws himself around the cot screaming - its relaly becoming very distruptive to our whole household.

The lenght of them is getting better most nights is started as a 2 hour battle of will but now its down to about 10 - 15 minutes.

I thouight maybe teething - but if i pick him up hes fine, he had been sick a fe weeks ago and so i thought maybe his nose being blocked - but same again pick him up hes ok.

Then i thought maybe its coz the new baby is getting ckloser and that he may be able to sense things are changing, or is it time to try a big boy bed ?

Im at a loss and would appreciate andy advice you might have.

It almost sounds like Night Terrors to me.

I have 2 boys that both experienced these. I noticed that if the boys were really hyped up before bed or were over tired this was when they had them.

From what I have experienced and been told, your child will grow out of them. At times, my boys would want me to cuddle them, then they would push me away. If they continue for longer than 15 minutes I was told that you need to actually "Wake" the child up. I usually just used a damp facewasher on their face which usually snapped them out of it. They would then after about 20 minutes go back to sleep.

I would definately suggest trying to suss out what your child has been like in the hours leading up to bedtime.

I was going to suggest night terrors. My DD1 used to have them.
She'd wake up screaming through the night & was really worked up, but I couldn't touch her. If I tried to comfort her she'd freak out even more. She was about 16 months old when they started.
Eventully she'd settle down & I could pick her up & cuddle her, but I'd have to wait til she calmed down first. I'd sing to her, or just talk to her. If I could I'd put a hand on her leg or arm.
She grew out of it though.
She still talks in her sleep, & occasionally sleep walks, but the night terrors stopped after a few months.
DD2 never had them, Don't know if DS will or not.
No idea what causes them, or why sometimes they can't be comforted, but it will stop.
It might go on for a couple months, but I know for sure that DD1 was over them by the time she was 2.
