Opinions please

Hi,

We're planning a morning wedding with a lunchtime reception, and I think that I've found a place that i'll be happy with except my SIL raised the point that there's no "view" from the reception centre.

The room itself is really nicely decorated (imo), but has no windows, although it does open up to an atrium/garden, so there is natural light. Also, it will be August, so probably still quite cold outside.

So, would the lack of a view make you turn to your partner at the end of the event & go "nice enough, but there was no view", or is this something that you just wouldn't pay much attention to??

I also had a morning wedding and lunch time reception. I found that because people were not dancing (people don't dance in the middle of the day in daylight!) they tended to socialise in groups on the verandah. We had lovely views and people commented on how nice it was all day. It really added a special touch. I got married in July and it was still warm enough at midday to want to be outside. HTH!

EDIT: I should add that the room was very plain and was designed to flow into the verandah. So perhaps it is a different setting? The view was the room decoration for us IYKWIM.

I don't think it matters - if there was a view I would appreciate it, but wouldn't bother if there wasn't :)

Oh my goodess that would never cross my mind! I wouldn't notice if there was or wasn't a view. Do you like the place? If that's the only thing holding you back I wouldn't worry. Good luck with you plans! :)

I wouldn't worry too much. Everyone will have their eyes on the beautiful bride anyway :)

If you like it go with it. It's your special day and if the vibe is right for you that is all that matters. At the end of the day your guests are there to celebrate with you and support you if they have time to even notice a lack view chances are they won't comment about it.

That was my immediate thought actually. I think it wouldnt matter so much at night time but during the day if you are not dancing etc, it might be nice to have a view. :)

My thoughts are that no view is fine provided that you:
a) have enough natural light - which is sounds like you will AND
b) the room is nicely decorated and not too plain.

The other thing to bear in mind is if you have seen the room during the time that you will be actually using it. My lunch time reception went from 12 til 4:30pm (though we had it at my inlaws house not a function centre).
