One bold bright line and one faint line.

Evening All,

Hi - it's my first time on the forum.

Am still just under a week off the date that my period would normally be due but my boobs have been hurting like nothing else and I have been feeling gross every day for about a week. Seeing as my partner and I decided that we would not say no to a baby we - ahem - did the deed when I ovulated. Wasn't expecting anything much becuase no tracking of temperature, discharge or anything. I can usually "feel" when I'm around ovulation (sore, big breasts, period type paid, back pain, slight temperature...sounds stupid I know) so we decided to give it a go.

I tested today and got one bold line and one line that was lighter in colour but still obviously there.

What do we think? Is that a yes or a no?

Hubby has suddenly been very unsupportive and after months of talking about how much he wants a family, talking about it etc is learning on the side of termination. Makes me think why we bothered in the first place a bit...actually am quite confused.

Is this type of cold feet "normal"?

yep it sure sounds like ur pregnant...

give ur DP some time to get used to the idea, i hope he comes around.

LOL @ mis_tree - peeing on 6 sticks. I sort of want to do that...to make sure the lines weren't in my mind LOL.

I am a bit (okay a lot) of a nerd and find it amazing that with all the amazing technology around us and the smart human body and the way it makes and grows babies that we are still sitting around peeing on sticks. :-P

I am going to try to wait and see whether or not I get my period until I do another test....i said try! I have a job interview the day my period is due so that will give me something to think about, I'm sure.

Yes the other half has totally clammed up. I'll give him some time.

Thanks for making me feel welcome and if this is what we think it is, you'll be hearing a lot of stupid questions from me! (I have never been a 'baby'type of person = no idea)

sounds like u got a BFP. if ur line came up stright away

Give hubby sometimes to come round which he will.

i only peed on 2 sticks lol i wanetd to pee on all 3 but hubby wouldnt let me lol

sounds like your pg love .... i had faint lines as well but those tests and pretty accurate.

I am still not down with all the abreviations - DH, BFR etc but I'll come around eventually! :-P

Dh= dear husband
BFP= big fat positive which is what u got when you POAS (peed on a stick) lol its another language in here.....

i got my first BFP a whole week before my period was even due, i then became obsessed with testing every day till it was due (i did over 10 i am sure) and as faint as that second line was it was a line!

Yep definitely sounds like a BFP to me. Congratulations.

And what ever DH decides, if you don't want a termination then don't get one.

As my signature says, everything happens for a reason, I'd just give your partner time to come around. It can be a shock to some people when they get a BFP, even when they are trying to conceive. I'm sure he will be thinking positive soon.

I agree with the others, give your DH some time to get used to the idea. Having a baby is such an ambivalent time - really exciting and really scary as well. Perhaps get him to come in here and check out the forums - especially the male forum to get some views and feedback from the blokes in here?

hun, DH and I planned our bub. When we got our BFP, we both kinda got overwhelmed and were scared, anxious, happy. DH was worried if he could be a good dad etc. We wanted a baby but it also took us a while to get used to the idea that we were pg cos it was going to be such a big change.
Our baby is 7mths today, and at the hossy, he was on cloud 9, I've never seen him so happy. He's such a doting dad, we love our son to bits!! We cant imagine our lives without him.
I think it takes men a while for all of it to sink in.. and they might feel 'detached' as they can only see you being pg, but we are the ones experiencing everything inside us. So it's more emotional and exciting for them, but just wait till the days come when he can feel his bub move inside and the moment bub's born!!!

My partner still doesn't really believe me despite my showing him a test - he says he wont believe me until it is conformed by a doctor.

Do men happen to seem a bit selfish at this time? He says he will think about whether or not to keep it but won't be able to make a decision until 6-8 weeks when he finds out about a job he applied for. He said that will still give me time to get a termination. We've been together 6 years and engaged for 3. He is 47 but can be such a child sometimes...can't they all! Says he is not sure he wants the responsibility of a child yet. In a way I think "come on, grow up, you're 47"....but know that is nasty.

I cannot remember if my AF was due on the 13th or 16th but haven't been feeling any of the usual symptoms regardless.

I sort of don't believe it myself and I am not really afraid of having a child around 24/7 (although I am aware my life will change massively), I am actually more scared of pregnancy, my mother's reaction (she will lean towards termination), and sorting things out with work, maternity leave etc. I know I would have to go back to work asap just because of financial reasons. I am also "plus sized" so rather worried and embarrassed about that.

However, he did mention he'd really like a girl but I still feel he is being a bit of a self obsessed git LOL but I am moody and totally dead tired regardless. Have been having trouble sleeping....my breasts are so sore! Left breast has grown like 2 cup sizes and right one basically stayed the same but very sore LOL...please catch up!

Partner laughed so much when I said the least my hormones could do is grow my beasts evenly!

i hope your partner comes around to the fact that you could be pg...
My DH was worried cos he was goign to be an older dad, we got pg when he was 50, and he was scared about being able to be there for bub and the big age gap.. like when bub's 21, dh will be 71. things like that.
do you think that could be a reason your partner seems reluctant?

Being pg, and having a child is such a roller coaster, so many things to think about and do, and huge huge decisions. Think thru them, and make your decision, if you want to keep or terminate your baby.

Question is - how do YOU feel, do you want to keep this baby or terminate? It's more your decision than others.....
