Hi everyone,
Does anyone know of a safe way of killing head lice while pregnant?
I am a teacher and have contracted them off the kiddies but I'm going mad scratching while I search for a safe method of removal.
Can anyone help?

Hi Punky,
I have found the only thing that works for DD is vinegar!
I rinse vinegar through her hair and then comb through with lice brush - a really tight one.
Then i run through soem conditioner and comb again.
Problem solved!
I'm pretty sure the wee wuns online store sells natural head lice remedies.
I heard 100% orange juice works! Cant remember what you do exactly but i think you wash your hair in it and it kills them and the eggs! Good luck!
There is a non-toxic head lice remedy from a company called Wild Child. They are Perth based but if you google Wild Child you will be able to get a stockist from the website. They also make great sun screen products without the nasty ingredients.
Try just using a thick white conditioner, leave it in for a while then comb with a nit comb. Another joy of teaching isn't it LOL I got them my 1st year,I nearly died cause I had gone all through school without them.
I used a spray which was 100ml water, 5 drops lavender, 5 drop tea tree and 5 drops eucalyptus to put on my hair as a preventative measure when we lived in NT.
yep wild child
they sell it in safeway
you can also get a prevention spray that you spray on daily to deter the pesky buggers from coming back
I agree with the Wild Child recommendation, you can get it at Woollies?Safeway, they have a single dose treatment and a comb through treatment, I'd be buying both, using the single dose now and then follow up with the comb through. Their comb (comes with the treatment) is the best out of all the combs on the market IMO.
I have *never* used a chemical treatment on my DD. Really careful sectioning and combing is the secret to getting rid of the blighters. You may need to get someone else to comb for you. Good luck.
Thanks everyone!
I tried the normal conditioner and comb last night but all night I swear I could feel the buggers shooting across my head! Will give Wild Child a go today.
Thanks a million :)
All the advice has been great so far but the main thing is to be persistent. Even when you have combed the live ones out it is impossible to get all the eggs out in one go. So the trick is to keep combing with the fine lice comb every day until there are no lice and then to keep combing for at least a week after this.
Good luck!
