Hi there
Yay for going cloth - what a great decision ;)
A website to have a general read is oz cloth nappies dot org - its a good resource.
I don't have a lot of AIO's - they take a while to dry - and with two in cloth - I find myself running out of them (I obviously need to shop more!!)
Prices are usually around the $25 for an AIO - depending on what brand you get - plus different websites have specials on from time to time.
Websites to visit are:
Nurture Nappies
Darlings Downunder
The Nappy Bucket
Beyond Belly
Baby Beehinds
(just to name a few)
Plus there are some websites from work at home mums - like ozebaby, minicuteture, wahmtastic...
So it depends what you are after.
Myself, I use a lot of pocket nappies (ie, bumgenius, haute, happy heiny) because they dry really quick - and if you get extra inserts - its like you have double the nappy stash (something I didn't realise at first and wish i knew it)
I also love my AI2's - they dry heaps quicker than an AIO - but just as easy to use. My favourites are Widdlewuns - which is a shop on ozebaby.
Having said that - I use mostly fitted and covers with DD.....
Um... can't think of anything else to write.... think thats covered it.... lol
Check this thread out. It has great information for getting started with cloth.
FWIW, switching to MCN was a great decision for me, and I mostly use AIOs.
Thanks ladies
So much to learn and so many acrynomns LOL
I was looking at AIOs because I dont think I can use terry cloth nappies, seems to be too much work in them (pins, wetting etc)
I will have a look at the links
thanks again!!!!
I thought the same things, but pocket nappies are so much cheaper, plus dry quicker! Have a look at some pockets - same advantages as AIOs but easier.
Pockets are easy to use - I don't use flats unless I run out of all the other easy ones!!! lol
Good on you  :cheer:
I really like LouLou AIO's they are really absorbent and last longer than the other AIO's that i have.
The also do a fantastic night AIO that i am in love with, i am saving for more and then she will be in one of those each night.
Down side is that they take longer to dry.
Im sure that you have probably figured this out, but you can get fitted cloth nappies (MCN) that are not flats and work well... i mostly use BBh (baby beehinds) with a wrap, you can get extra inserts for these.
FWIW MJ has been in cloth ALL her life, never a sposie ever, and she has not had a problems... we have ezcema in the family and she has terrible dribble rashes etc and can get very dry or irritable patches else where, but NO nappy rash or anything like that in the nappy area.
HTH :)
Baby Beehinds ebay store has discontinued Magic Alls for $15 atm with free postage! Also comes with a free bamboo booster. Might be a good place to start.
I prefer AIO's on Emily. They're just a much better fit on her over any other nappy I've tried. I use Baby Beehinds and Itti Bitti's.
IMO and its just that, the majority of the nappies that are on ebay are a bit of rubbish - you dont realise this until you have paid for the more expensive ones and go - ahhhh these are soooo much better.
KAte the ones that you listed i bout when i was pg... I call them the cr@ppy nappies.... not cos they are good at poo, but because they are pretty useless...
After one wee they are wet, if left on for more than an hour or 2 they can get literally soaking and the only reason that i dont have leaks is cos i have good wraps.
These tend to be the nappies that i use prior to bed after a bath as i know that she will only be in it for 2 hours tops and generally only does one wee and sometimes no wee at all... (we sit on the potty, but thats another thread)
Also i dont really like the BBH Magicalls as they too dont last that long and are the only nappies that i have got leakage from.
when it comes to MCN, i have found that you really do get what you pay for.
I would slowly build up a stash if money is an issue and buy good quality ones as you will end up regretting the cheaper purchases later on
HTH
Darn it!
I was doing research and now missed out on the baby beehind sale on ebay =(
Does that seller always sell it at 15 bucks? or anyone know the sellers name so I can ask them?
EEK!
Never mind I found the shop on ebay agian lol
thakns for the help ladies and Nelle's thread is fab!!
YAY!
Just bought some AIOs. Cant wait to try them out. Hopefully the baby beehind ones are good.
Thanks again ladies!!
(My post was deleted because i put the link in)
That's interesting. I wonder if they are better on older kids? The little one who is wearing them has only been using them since she was about 14 months old. She has bamboo boosters at night (that i made), but they are pretty happy with just the nappies and a cover during the day.
Thanks for letting me know,
Kate
Just wanted to comment that the thread Manta Ray suggested is very informative thread and should be read by all new users
Thanks to Nelle for so much valuable information...I was so confused ( and still am a bit) but this has given me a really good start..I guess now its left to experimenting!
Will let you know once jelly bean is born which ones are my fave's
Agreed,

Can't wait for my packages to arrive!!!! YEEEEE HHHHHHHHAAAAAA
