our little baby boy Cooper (Born at 21 wks)
Hi,
I thought that writing my story down might help others that hav been through similiar situations and also my self...
When I first found out that I was pregnant I couldnt get the smile off my face I couldnt wait for my fiance to get home so I could tell him the great news. Straight away we both had so many dreams for our new baby we couldnt wait to be a family!
Because we are both twins we had an ultra sound at 5wks to see if there were one or two heart beats... there was only one and every thing was looking good. We then went and had an ultra sound at 19wks we were sooo excited that we were finally going to see our little baby and we couldnt wait to find out the sex of our baby... Its a boy!!! every thing looked perfect, he looked perfect and we knew he was going to a very active little boy because he did not stop moving the whole time!
All our dreams were cut short on the 18th aug at 21wks I started having contractions and because this was my first I had no idea what was going on. Lucky I was in at the hospital for our routine cheak up with a midwife and to book in for the 27th dec. She did a cheak up and she said every thing was coming along fine everthing was good and normal. I told her what I was feeling and she said that it would just be my uterus growing I agread and was not worried at all because the pain was not bad.
Through out the afternoon and night the pain got a lot worse and I got no sleep. I rang the hospital at 2am on the 19th aug. the midwifes must hav known what was happening and just told me to wait it out at home and I was fine with that and at this time I was not worried I could still feel our little baby kicking and moving around. At 5am I still had no sleep and was justing waiting for the pain to go away. I rushed to the bathroom and I started bleeding a lot so I rang the hospital back and told them I was coming straight in. At this time we were still positive everything was going to be ok. When we got to the hospital the doctor did an ultra sound and our little baby was moving around which was such a relief!! Until the doctor said the placenta was low.
Then the hardest thing in the whole world happened. The doctor sat on the side of my bed and told us that I would be giving birth to my son within the next few days and that because he was only 21wks he would not make it in this world. At that moment me and my fiance broke down HOW,WHY was this happening to us?? WHY??
The next few hours my contractipns got a lot worse. I hadnt even been to maternity classes yet so I was a bit confussed as to what was happening and everything was happening so fast.
At 10:16am on the 19th aug I gave birth to Cooper Alexander Florence. When Cooper was born he was still breathing and his little heart was still beating although this was the hardest and most devestating thing the moment Cooper layed between me and my fiance we couldnt hold in our tears of joy and happiness Cooper was perfect! His cute little feet still kicked every now and then, and Cooper stayed in this world for a few hours he was a fighter! He had a cute little button nose and gorgeous litttle fingers and toes and my fiance's perfect lips.
We got to spend the whole day with Cooper We just couldnt take our eyes off him. He was the most precious gift.
The midwife took photos of Cooper and prints of his little hands and feet which we will be forever greatfull for.
Unfortunately we will never know why this happened. which is very difficult!
We said our goobyes to Cooper on the 25th aug with our family and friends there to support us. It was a lovely tribute to our son and afterwards we let white and blue balloon go up to the heavens.
I know our little angel is looking over us and that one day he will have a brother or sister to look over to.
Thanks
Laura
