The amazing gender changing baby!!!

Hi all, just wanted to find out if this has happened to anyone else out there.

Every time we have a scan we are told our baby is the opposite gender. First boy 14 weeks then 4 days later girl. Now today 30 weeks boy and I have another opportuity for a scan tomorrow. I just want to know one way or another, if I dont get boy tomorrow I am more than likely going to want to throw a tantrum in frustration.

I did the whole wanting girl then getting used to boy only to be told girl, then mising out on boy etc I swing from one to the other and its just plain confusing.

My poor Mum and MIL are totally stumped as to what to get (I know my mum just finnished making a beautiful smocked dress for our little 'girl' - she even put it off just in case it was a boy but decided to go ahead anyway).

I just want to be able to go into a baby shop and make a decision on stuff without having to worry about my choices. I know that clothes etc can be exchanged but I really want to buy the other stuff like curtains and wall decorations.

Is there anyone out there that has gone through this that can relate? I'm just not sure how i'm meant to make sense of this.

Oh encase your wondering If my priorities are totally off - The reason for the scan (one undersized kidney) came back all clear. Boy or girl this is one very healthy and happy baby, and I truly do appreciate that.

I was told at 19 weeks i was carrying a girl....and then at 21 weeks told i was carrying a boy....i have another scan at 33 weeks so i hope to find out a bit more certainty!

With my 1st we decided we didnt want to know and lukily enough everytime bubs legs were crossed (ended up being a boy) .. This time we had our 18 week scan... the lady said "if i had to guess i'd say girl"... we were happy but wanted more then a guess... I planned another scan for 2 weeks time. Got told it was 60% chance it was a boy. :( i had gotten excited and it had changed. Then i decided to check agaon... told 70% chance of a girl.... WTF... SO we were were exactly... We could either pick 1 or the other... I decided to wait few more weeks and try again. so we planed 1 for 30 weeks. voila we were told 90% chance it was a girl... i was still cautious so planed yet another at 35 weeks and again the lady said definatley a girl... they were right we had a girl... I'd wait a few weeks get another scan or go some place else. try to get a % but i had a friend who was told boy... brought all boy stuff and had it confirmed it was a boy and ended up with a little girl

I would think at 30 weeks it should be pretty accurate!!! fingers crossed for you.

I am dying to know the sex of my baby too. At our 20 wk scan we tried to find out the sex but the baby wasn't really co-operating, they lady who did the scan said she couldn't get a clear view but if she took a stab at it she would say a girl.

We then went for a 3D/4D scan at 21 wks to try and find out and that lady said 80% girl. I am still not convinced though. I'd ideally love another girl but I am scared they've gotten it wrong.

How do you girls get to go for all these other scans? I don't get anymore. I'd love to go for another one, do I just go and get a referral from my GP? Do I say its coz I want to find out the sex?

you could ask for a referral with sex of baby but you would have to pay for that. Or you could just book yourself one of the 3d ones & pay for that.
ORR you could claim some medical reason to warrant a ultrasound...

Mine that have been after the 20 week scan have either been growth scans or checking the position of the placenta

With my 3D scan I paid for that. I'd love to go for another one but DH is convinced they've gotten it right and its a girl. I just want to know for sure though.

I asked for a measurements US to check all sizes of bubs and i didnt have to pay. Also at 35 weeks they did a scan to check fluid levels as we thought i was leaking fluid.

I didn't have it happen but I do know someone who had 8 scans and on all of them they told her it was a boy but out popped a girl. Ultrasounds are not always accurate.

The ultrasound can only ever give up to 95% accuracy, which means at least 1 in 20 gender guesses are wrong, but actually it's probably more common than that.

Why not just stick to gender neutral clothes and colours. That's what we've done, despite believing since week 19 that we "know" what we're having. There's brown, yellow, orange, black, white, grey, green, red in all different shades. It's really easy to stick to gender neutral. Actually, I seem to have ended up with a baby's wardrobe of bright-citrus colours which look really cute and colourful, reminds me of a rainbow.

Not to mention the fact that the baby doesn't actually care what it's wearing or what colour the nursery walls are (although I'd steer clear of blood red walls, just in case).

MuminTraining:Omg you poor thing, still going through all of this. Havent seen you for awhile. Glad to hear that bubs kidneys are ok. I hope that you get a more clear idea at your next scan. Look forward to hearing how it all went.

Wow damm US - that sounds crazy. You poor thing. Glad the kidneys are alright! I have heard the US can be unreliable like that... Hope your next US sheds some light on the gender

Thanks for the feedback - nice to know it happens to others too. The reason whay we have had more US than others is that early on there was a lot of cramping so they wanted to rule out ectopic pregnancy. Then the 20 week one turned up the kidney thing so they wanted to follow up on that. In addition the OBS has a machine in his office so he lets us have a look each time we see him (every 1-2 months).

The second scan done recently said boy as well, so as DH says there is 3 boys to 1 girl so betting odds are in favour of boy.

I personally love the colour blue so even if it had been a girl she would have had a lot of blues just out of my choice. Down side is that Mum threw a surprise baby shower and there are a few VERY girly items which may look a little odd. Funny how it only looks odd one way not the other, never really thought about that before.

Oh well as I said if it is a he when his in his teens he will more than likely have girly posters on the walls so what is really wrong with a Disney Princesses Framed image. And at any rate hopefully we will be blessed with more than one little angel in the future so we will have other chances to go nuts with the pink.

Well you never know what his preferences will be, anyway. Could be that he quite enjoys Disney Princesses. You can't rule it out. That's half the reason I'm keeping everything gender neutral, I don't want to force any gender stereotypes on my children. They can enjoy dolls, trucks, transformers, barbies .. I don't care. I personally played with just 1 barbie doll but a sandpit full of Tonker trucks.
