I can have a VBAC if....
Had my 1st midwife app last week. Was surprised as they are all for VBAC and i didnt even have to bring it up myself. Anyway, its not sounding positive that i will be able to have one.
I had GD last time around, was on insulin and still found it a bit difficult to control even tho my diet was great. If i get it again (thinking i will, havent lost any weight) i can only have a VBAC if i go into labour early, before 38 weeks as ill be booked in for a c section due to the GD. Pfft what are the chances. stuff all id say :wall:
just a vent..

No way... even the Obs in the birth centre at the Mercy let you at least go to your due date with GD. Have you read my sticky posts at the top of the Medical Conditions in Pregnancy forum? I'd be running a mile, what a joke. Also get onto traditional chinese medince and acupuncture asap, to start helping your body now, then induce as you get closer...
Medical inductions of course aren't recommended with a VBAC, but even still if you had GD and no c/s, inductions dont improve outcomes. I would be considering the risks of having a baby at 38 weeks (if your bub was left alone and you birthed at 42 weeks - that's 4 weeks baby wasn't ready for, as well as repeat c/s risks) as opposed to looking at alternatives.
If you read the 'how bellybelly helped me' thread, there is 'Lisa's story.' She had a c/s for twins, didnt realise at the time, then had a HBAC with her second, as she was booked in for a c/s and didn't feel it was necessary. She was not on insulin, they wanted to put her on it though, even though her friends would have higher blood sugar levels than her sometimes! I'd be getting more opinions.

Emz - just wanted to say that it's not a given that you'll have raging GD this time around.
I had insulin dependent GD with my first baby. With my second one, 16 months later, I only developed very mild GD, and not until about 33 weeks and it was easily controlled with diet. In hindsight I don't believe I had it the second time, I passed all my GTT's but had an OB that was paranoid about it. I had slightly high sugars by 33 weeks but have since learned that mild insulin resistance in late pregnancy is normal.
Anyway, you could push for 39 weeks - alot of public hospitals don't induce/c-section for GD (even insulin dependent GD) until then. If your BSL's are fine and they're booking a c/s anyway they can't use the excuse that the baby will be too big. And at least your buying your bubby another week inside and another week for you to vbac.
Or alternatively you could tell them to stick their booked c/s and that you will be continuing the pregnancy unless your BSL's are raging and you won't be doing anything "just in case" ;)
Anyway, good luck and I hope it all works out.

 It is really tough hun, but there is a stack of great literature out there and I would suggest you read read read over the next few weeks. You have a good amount of time to make decisions and to negotiate with your hospital. I have only made some last minute decisions regarding my vbac in the last week or so and am due at the end of the week so it's ok to change your mind. Question everything, especially if your GD is under control. Medico's tend to make sweeping statements like for me they said that if I go over 9 days overdue my risk of rupture is higher(which is a load of b@ll@cks) so I should keep my current c/s date. I will be telling them (not asking) that I want it changed to 14 days OD. Sorry Im waffling on a bit but just wanted to let you know that there is a huge amount of support on here for you so just ask away.
