teething rash

Molly Jane has had a teething rash for a few weeks now, well probably about 6 weeks.
I have been using pawpaw ointment on it and usually that helps, but the last few days it has been getting worse, in the evenings its red, angry and raised.

Today she has been rubbing it incessantly with her fist and anything that she can get her hands on.
Her cheeks are really warm too and its bright red - like a beard

She is not crying or whinging much, but she is not a baby that tends to make a fuss.

Any suggestions

What about sudocream or one of the other barrier creams?

I have chucked on some bepathum (sp?) was more worried about these as she licks her chin and cheeks, but it seems to soak in well.
