TTC with Clomid for PCOS
Hi girls, I just want to start by saying good luck to you all ttc!!!...readig all your threads has made me feel not so alone in the agonising waiting game that is ttc.
A bit of background on me....
I am 27yo as is hubby, ttc our first. Before we started ttc I spoke with my obgyn as I have always had very irregular periods, sometimes up to 6 months!! He did some blood tests and an ultrasound which showed that I have PCOS. I am not at all overweight though and do not appear to have insulin resistance which seems to be common with PCOS ladies.
As my periods are so irregular, my doc agreed to put me straight on to Clomid, rather than having me ttc naturally for 6 months first.
I started my first round of 50mg Clomid this month, on cds 2-6. I am now on cd 16, and have had virtually no side effects, and more disappointingly no clear signs that ovulation is coming. I have been doing any and every form of charting, but it is all so unclear.
My BBT is consistent, but very low...around 35.9 degrees celsius to 36.1(have heard is not uncommon with PCOS).
I have been using OPKs since cd 9, but no BFP yet.
I have had small amounts of creamy white CM for the past 7 days, and my cervix is med-high, but it is very hard to tell diff. b/w soft and firm, and open or closed.
It's all so frustrating!!!!
I guess I am hoping to hear about your experiences from some of you girls that have used clomid before, and who have PCOS also.

Hi Mac2,
I was 28 when diagnosed with PCOS. After the diagnosis DH and I ttc for a couple of months on metformin, then moved on to metformin and clomid. I became pregnant on the first cycle, but sadly miscarried. After waiting a month, we used metformin and clomid again and again became pregnant on the first cycle. This time bubs has stuck and I'm now 25 weeks!
One thing you should be aware of is that clomid doesn't guarantee that you'll ovulate at the 'normal' time. When I got preg this time, I didn't ovulate until about day 23. My obs said that is not unusual with clomid and there was no need to increase my dose (I spoke to him before I got my BFP).
Anyway, good luck.

Just wanted to see how you are traveling I read your post about PCOS and clomid.
I am in a similar boat well pretty much the same actually. I am 25 and DH 28. We have been ttc for 1 yr and have had 2 miscarriages both at 5 1/2 weeks. I had a laparoscopy which showed that I had a sub-septum in my uterus which was removed. FS thinks that was what was causing my m/c.
Anyway So I was also diagnosed with PCO FS doesn't hink it is PCOS doing another blood test to confirm it.
I am not insulin resistant and have my periods about ever 37 days they are not regular but never earlier then that. FS has also put me on 50mg of clomid. This is my first cycle I am now cycle day 5.
Just wondering what you FS is doing to monitor ovulation. Mine only has me doing a bt on the 23rd day of my cycle.
Anyway I hope all is well :goodluck:

Hi Tam83,
Well I am not seeing a FS at this stage, just the gyno. He is not tracking my cycle at all, I am pretty much left on my own (it's hard enough even getting him on the phone!)....
There is mixed opinions on whether I have PCOS or just PCO as I am not insulin resistant either. I started Clomid days 2-6 last month, with no real side effects at all, or ovulation (that i know of) then at cd18 i got what appeared to be AF....bizarre, and the doc can't give me any answers as to why I would only have a 17 day cycle, when mine are usually irregular but on the long side! So I was told to give it a month before taking the next dose of clomid. I am now cd 19 on cycle two with no clomid, and I got some brown spotting yesterday...well actually only one spot to be precise. Been having dull aches in my lower abdomen yesterday and today so not sure if maybe my body is gearing up to ovulate on its own!!!! Fingers crossed :)
By the way, what is a sub sepulum (sorry, forgot what it was called)?

Musik Hi :goodluck: with your first cycle I have heard alot of success stories. I hope that we all can be so lucky :crossfingers: I haven't had any side effects from the clomid. My dosage was 50mg. Now I'm CD 7 and  that I ovulate.
Mac2 Sorry that your first round of clomid wasn't successful. Weird that you got AF on day 17. From what you have described this month sound's like you may have ovulated on your own  Have you been taking your BBT did you notice any fall or rise? Or OPK? There is another lady that I have spoken to and she said that her FS isn't monitering her whislt on clomid either. I hope that this month you get some great news.

Hi there mac2,
my partener and i were on clomid for 11 months after trying naturally for a year & have finally successfully succeded, my cycle was between 40-52days i weight 51kgs have also had no insulin resistance but after a few tests i was also diagnosed with pos. After 6months of my eggs not reaching there full size i was put on 4 clomid a day (text book dosage doc sez) and it worked first go i grew my own full sized egg i was soooo happy but i misscarried, the next 7 months were tuff i couldnt stop thinking about getting pregnant and became stressed which played a BIG factor in our unsuccessfulness, in the 9th month i saw a guy called Andrew Orr in brisbane (He is responsible for getting hale berry pregnant & many others)He changed my diet to eating dinner at lunch time, cutting back on preservatives mixed with accupunture every two weeks to stimulate my floicles & a few vitamins, with the free massages every two weeks from him and learning to stop my tempreture tests & charting within 2 months we were pregnant. it was funny cause the month we got pregnant i said to my partener "im sick of this rollercoaster ride its hell if we dont get pregnant this month ill just write the dates on the fridge & youll know what we gotta do so were not gonna talk or think about it anymore" Lol & it worked were not 10.5 weeks pregnant & couldnt be any happier. i know its a hard road but try not to think about it too much, stop charting & keep the passion alive cause there IS light at the end of your tunnel Hun. Goodluck & keep us posted on how your doing
