Spray tans

Ok i have a wedding in 2 weeks for which i am wearing a dress. I am soooo white and every one i have shown the dress on to comments on how pasty i am and i should try and "tan" b4 then. So i am thinking spray tan but have only had one b4 years ago and TBH didnt rate it much then. What are your opinions of them? I could not give myself a fake tan i'd end up patchy so advice wanted. Hey if all else fails i will just go white but i'd like to feel nice and summery not like a big white marshmallow lol

I had a spray tan a few years ago and it turned out alright, I was happy with it. Felt all summery and not like Casper the friendly ghost :)

Then had one again a couple years later at a different place and my hands turned orange because they reckoned I touched my legs!! They didn't know how to get it off but I finally found that body hair bleach worked to get it off the palms of my hands. Turned out they were supposed to cover my palms with moisturiser first which is what the first place did the first time I had one.

So that's my tip - body hair bleach can get off spray on tan!!

Last time a friend did mine for me (that's her job ;) ) she told me to really scrub everywhere to exfoliate first so i did it daily for about a week b4 and lots of moisturiser so my skin wasn't dry when the tan went on. It really made a difference to any i've had previously! She also got me to moisturise my knees and ankles which i found good too! I think it also helps if you go to someone you've heard is good at it, i think alot of it comes down to skill and patience of the person! Good luck!!

Go for a spray tan. THey are so much better now and you will feel great. Maybe get it done 2 days before the wedding so it looks not to fake on the day.

Spray tans look really gorgeous and I would recommend getting one now to test the colour and make sure you are happy with the shade. The tans are specifically made in shades designed for different skins and it is best to test them first especially before such a big day as your wedding! One shade might be completely orange on you whereas the next is golden and perfect. If you decide to get a spray tan for your big day, get it a couple of days before the wedding day in case it is streaky or splotchy and then you will have a chance to fix it up if you need to without leaving it too late. Don't forget to exfoliate and shave/wax beforehand and go with clean skin (no moisuriser except on hands and no perfume or deoderant) and take dark loose clothing to wear home afterwards. And an umbrella if its raining lol. Your therapist will be able to tell you how to look after your tan too when you get it done, good luck :)

Have you thought about using Dove or Johnsons holiday moiturizers from now until the wedding. I use the Dove one regularly and I always have a very natural looking light tan. I also have no problems with patchiness as they tan so slowing over time. If you started using it now you would look great by the wedding. I have had a spray tan and it was good, but looked awful as it was wearing off.

Spray tans have become a lot more natural looking since a few years ago. I would only ever get one done by a professional and only get a Grade 1 or 2 (3-5 is too full on for pale skin - I like to call it the "oompa loompa look" :lol:).

Get it done a few days before the wedding and shower once a day in the lead up. You won't be full on "Gold Coast" brown, it will just be a natural looking glow.

Also use plenty of moisturiser - it will stop it going patchy when it starts wearing off.

Definatley get some sprays done in advance to try out the colour, make sure you ask for the lightest, as a fellow casper I know that if you get a darker one you will be more likely to go orange, which is exactly why we cant use self tan lotions, they usually contain way too much DHA (the active ingredient) and will cause us to go orange. Ask for the brand name and ask what percentage of DHA is in their solutions, the best one for us pasties is a 5% DHA, if you feel its not dark enough get another spray in the same 5% about 2 days after.
And dont use SUNFX, they are good for darker people but for pasty people its very very orange :)

in the week before hand moisturise lots
the day before hand you need to exfoliate well, wax/shave and moisturise.
you can exfoliate the day of but only apply moisturiser to your hands feet knees and elbows (the driest places

The instant colour you get after sprayed is not the colour you will have, this is just a cosmetic bronzer to give you instant gratification and allows the sprayer to see where they've sprayed, this is what you wash off 8hrs later, the DHA solution is clear and develops over at least 8hrs which is why you dont get wet or sweat, and must wear loose fitting clothes until shower time.
It will not stain your clothes.
AFTER - wash only with a soap free, non abrasive wash, (like dove or baby wash) and moistures lots, a gradual tan moisturiser like the dove one etc. will help keep your colour. The tan will fade when your next layer of dead skin starts to come off, 1wk max.

so get sprayed, find the colour you like, and get sprayed a week and a half before the big day, then once again 3days before for a good even colour :)
