Things that pregnant women should not do!

Hi ladies

Last night on the train I pulled out my book of Sudoku puzzles and started doing one. It was rated "Easy" and within I swear about a minute, I'd made a mistake :redface: A really silly one, I put a 9 in a square that had a 9 right next to it. :rolleyes:

I am normally a whizz with Sudokus - I can even do the big ones in the Age that have five intersecting puzzles.

Is this the beginning of the end of my brain???

Got me thinking - what else should be on the "Avoid while pregnant" list??

To avoid:
Looking at your friends who are parents with your 'soon-to-be parent eyes' and start thinking "we're so not doing that", "she's so weak, she just gave in to her child" etc...you may well feel the shame later when you're doing those same things and realising why parents do them! Although, I think this is a rite of passage...everyone does it to some extent :blush:

Last night I left the freezer door open and I mean wide open!! (and our one doesnt beep to tell you) as I was the last one to go to bed I woke up this morning to melted icecream, water all over the floor had to chuck most of it out.

I didnt want to tell DP so i just said that I was cleaning out the freezer! He was like..."you're being very productive in your holidays arent you!" I just laughed to myself!

My brain has melted along with the icecream!

I would say Pregnant women should just basically not be resposible for doing anything too important!! Cause our bodies and minds are very busy doing ONE very important thing already!! Growing a baby!! lol

I was doing book keeping while pregnant- and made that many mistakes it wasnt funny!!!! My biggest one was that i wrote the cheque for the wages wrong, by one cent, which may not seem a big deal- but when it came time to reconcille the month on the computer- it caused BIG problems!!!

ummm mange the money LOL Just yesterday I sat & worked out our budget for th eweek as its going to be a very tight week.
All good, everything paid for, shoppping done, petrol taken into account etc.

I forgot the CAR PAYMENT! Now I have no money to pay it LOL, had to ring up & arrange a double payment for next f/n !

LOL, great thread. When I was pregnant I chouldn't engage in conversation where I had to remember lots of names.
i.e.
"You know... umm... that girl? With the red hair? Yes! That's the one, well her cousin, what's her name... umm... you know...? Yes! Well, she's going out with... ummm..." etc, etc.
Actually, who am I kidding - for me that wasn't just a pregnancy thing! :lol:

My word, I don't have to be pregnant to forget names.

Volunteer to drive while experiencing nausea. DW nearly took the nose of our car off today.

Although, having said that, I have done the same on plenty of occasions without nausea or pregnancy to blame.

Start talking about emotional things straight after getting out of the shower. I had a dripping wet DW cuddling me a few days ago, sobbing her heart out and asking in between "Why am I crying?" LOL

I've had a few car incidents as well!

i went shopping today and bought ds a new pair of pyjamas and now they are nowhere to be seen. i have no idea where i've left them- at the register, in the carpark, in the trolley????!!!

i have no idea, but anyway.....now he still needs new pyjamas

on topic of cars - keys...found in very strange places...late to work many times!

Ok where do I start?

- Anything that requires you to do more than 2 things at once eg. talk and type at the same time
- Anything that requires a gap between 2 events eg. turn off all the gas appliances and then wait an hour to check if the gas meter has moved. I forgot to check after an hour and then wondered why I was freezing 3 hours late (the heater was still off).
- Anything that requires attention to detail eg. organising the Childchare Fundraising Auction like me at the moment. It is tonight and I'm sure I've screwed something up!

This is somewhat reasuring to read other who have lost their brains (as well as their ds pjs and Icecream :lol:).
I feel so much more stupid this pregnancy than I did with DS. Its gotten worse this past week or 2. My doula says its a good sign my brain is zoning in for birthing, but somedays I feel like I hope I can get that far. I feel dodgey even going out for a walk some days, and not feeling my driving is quite as good as it should be :doh::redface:
Fortunatly DH seems to be quite understanding and I have explained to DS that mummies brain is not as clever at the moment cause its getting ready for baby...

Oh yeah the word game! My english gets really bad. I stumble over words & talk like im a half wit most of the time.
It shows alot when I post because I can't be bothered going back & fixing it up.

Last night I was writing out some pay figures & had to keep asking her to repeat the number as I was hearing it but my brain just wasn't processing it to my pen LOL.

Some days I feel like a real idiot when I open my mouth.

Salsa - i'm hearing you re driving not being as good as should be - i'm sure that i'm the same, althought while i'm driving everyone else is the culprit! :redface:

i feel better reading this knowing i'm not the only one. i'm forgetting everything, including when my scans are! - when i looked at the piece of paper yesterday (and i'm usually particularly good at things like that - remembering dates & numbers off my heart - not anymore) :wall:

I'm forgetting staffs names - even though I do the hr contracts at work and have been here 18 mths! i can't even excuse myself thru preg brain cos they don't know yet - although a few ppl have said 'are u feeling ok?' haha .:lol:

Never lock the front door and pull it shut!!!!

ALWAY use your keys to look the door from the out side this way you know you have your keys in you hot little hands and not on the floor near where you put on your shoes!!!

And after you have baby never leave your keys next to your babies car seat when putting baby into the car as you WILL leave them there and it will be on this day you car decides to luck it self with baby stuck in the car and you a screaming mess on the out side!!!

Never look at ladies who are almost due to have there baby when you are at the start of yours as you will freak out at the size of them, and might say something that will make the poor PG lady feel very big indeed...

That goes for you men to you know BHL did it to me when I was 6 weeks PG with DD1 we were at the local pool with DS when we saw a very very very PG lady and BHL said " Gee been PG isnt very flattering is it hun" :wtf: He never did say anything like that to me again as he had to deal with a very *****ty wife who wouldnt let him touch or look at me from about 6 mths on wards it was a very dry few month for him LOL

We have had to break into the house twice since i have become pregnant!! I am hopeless with keys. I took the presser button of my car because i was locking the keys in all the time. Now I physicaly have to lock the door with the keys so I cant lock them in at it still imobilises the car.

lol - i just went out to check the mail and locked the door behind me as I did. Probably prompted by this thread I suddenly thought " what the f*** am I doing locking the door?! What it the wind catches it???!!!" and I dashed back and unsnibbed it before continuing out to the mail box - phheww!. DS is away for the night, so I would have been stuck!!!

Don't go shopping for kitchen utensils and ALWAYS take a shopping list for grocery shopping. It became a joke in our house whenever I headed out - my DH would say "don't forget to buy tongs and taco shells". I bought 4 pairs of tongs and who knows how many boxes of taco shells during my pregnancy with DD#1. Whenever I was standing in front of them in the supermarket aisle I'd look and think "Oh, I need some of those!"
