Is this serious??????? PLEASE HELP!!

I have an awful question to ask. My bubs poo was really smelly and soft so i took her to the doctors last week and he said she was perfectly fine and it was normal.

I used cloth nappies last week too but was feeling sick so didnt wash them for 4 days, when I went to wash them on sunday I found some sort of worm/ larve at the bottom of the container. There was about 30 of them, they were tiny and not so much on the inside of the nappy as they were on the bottom of the bucket and on the outside of the nappies. :redface: They were Ecru coloured, about a cm long, 1mm wide tapering to a tiny thin black tail. I could see eyes on the fatter head end.

I AM taking bub to the docs as soon as they answer their phone so I can make an appointment but I am desperatly wondering what they are? Whether they are a common worm or some sort of bug that just laid eggs in the bottom of my nappy bucket, which was slightly damp but not wet.

Please any information would be great. I cant get through to the doctors.

How old is bubs? Do you have any pets?

Bub is 11 months old, and i have 2 dogs who are allowed inside.

Why don't you ring your local chemist? If you have pets its a strong possibility that its worms.....but I'm not sure how to identify?

could it be magets from leaving the nappy.

Yeah but aren't they fat? Another possibility though.

Thats what i thought, but they are pretty skinny (1mm wide) and i always thought maggots were fat things.

There was no poo as the nappies had been rinsed but they still needed a hot wash, there is a very small hole in the lid of the container so its possible that a fly or some bug could have gotten in there.

I just booked an appointment, shes in for tomorrow so we will find out i guess. Chemist just said to go to docs anyways.

Magget are tiny to start with then get bigger and bigger ( lived with them dayly living in the tropic's )

otherwise worms :tmi: If you turn off all the lights tonight bend bubs over your knee and gently open her anus while your DP/DH shines a touch near the opening the worms will come to the light.... Gross I know but then you will know for sure bub has them and if bub does then you will need to worm everyone and pets too....GL

could flies have been accessible to the bucket? Sounds a lot like maggots to me. I think they only take about 24 hrs to hatch after a fly has laid its eggs. Being a slightly moist area would've helped as well.

I would think it highly unlikely it would be worms within your bub - hoping for bubs sake anyway.

Through my own DDs toileting problems, I have come to learn one major reason their poohs are smelly is how much dairy they have in their diet i.e. if lots, it can be major stinky....if you remove it completely, you have all most smell-free poohs!! And the colour changes too....gets lighter without dairy.

My girls have had worms, but ones they got from sandpits & not the dogs. Tapeworm can also come in small segments as it comes out, but if you've rinsed them out I would be more inclined to think it was maggots.

I see worms all the time at work (vet nurse) and I reckon you should get it checked out but I would be more inclined to think maggots.
