hi Flowerchild!
Just wanting to pick that amazing brain of yours! - did they ever explain why you had your losses. Did you have earth babies before your angels and then another earth baby? (i am trying to remember your story -i know it has been long and complex but you seem to have been in a similar position to me)
They are still at a loss to explain why i could have a 9ld12oz and 9lb3oz babies and then lose 2 angels to a slight case of IGUR and esp because autopsies have showed that our babies were 100% normal without the IGUR. Perfect bones, no chromosonal abnormalities, organs in good condition etc. Placenta testing showed nothing. Blood work on me all came back normal.
I have an appointment with the Professor Wallace, head of Obstetrics at monash, clayton next week and i suppose am looking for anything else you could offer me to ask. Next weeks appointment is essentially to look at my options going forward for future pregnancies. (they have ruled out seeing a genetist -i hope i spelled it right -as there is no history of anything severe in our family and we have a big one!! And the OB i saw at monash last thurs, spoke to them to see if they felt it was a valid option for me)
I am also seeing him, as the OB i saw last week thought it may help shed some light, for him to think of something else that may have caused this to happen twice in 9months to us, as i am otherwise healthy. They also work in 2 branches, a maternal side and a fetal side to offer the best care depending on where the focus is needed....so i will find out more about that.
I hope i have'nt confused you!
Anything you or anyone else has to offer would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Jo,
I had 4 Earth Babies before I had 6 angels... My last Earth baby DD4 was significantly smaller than her brother and sisters - but she was alive and healthy and born at term.
My blood work sometimes came back borderline and sometimes fine. My placentas were also fine and chromosomal karotyping was normal on my two little girls and one boy... Imogen's placenta only had hours left in it when she was born - it was severely infarcted.
Something you need to keep in mind is that we don't know the answers for everything. There are conditions out there that don't yet have a name or a test - that is what I believe I have - flowerchild syndrome! We don't know the name but it's real and it takes my babies...
I got very very ill at 26 weeks and 5 days. I was critically ill and it appeared I had HELLP syndrome (do a google) - however when I was given the steroids so that Immy's lungs would develop my platelets began to rise my hb began to normalise and my kidneys that were failing improved... The medicos believed I was in "immuno crisis" - I had an immunological disorder of unknown name". The Obs couldn't believe what they were seeing... This continued on and off for another week until they said the pregnancy had to end. Imogen was born smack on 28 weeks but she was the size of a 26 weeker - she is now a healthy almost 1 year old (nxt Tuesday she will be 1!)
I had been on prednisone for the pregnancy and when I weaned off the prednisone (steroid) this is when I got sick. My knees were so big that I looked massive - my fingers so swollen they looked like little sausages - I am a small framed woman - I got severe "arthritis" and then my liver began to bleed and kidneys failed etc...
So - what I say to you is that we don't have all the answers - I was called "an enigma" - very esoteric for surgeons - I scared the pooper out of them all!
If youo come away from your appointment without an answer that's not because there isn't one - we just don't know the question...
For now, we know most immunological reasons for miscarriage and intrauterine death are caused by clotting disorders - we know that heparin helps this - we also know that prednisone sometimes helps. Heparin has few side effects in most women - prednisone is heavy duty and causes many side effects. The potency of prednsisone should not be taken lightly. It causes lack of skin integrity, insulin resistance, weight gain etc etc. I truly "know" for me without it Imogen would not be here - I know that. But I payed a big price - my size 10 body is now a size 14 but slowly slowly returning to normal. I have had more treatments with prednisone since then due to recurring bouts of arthritis and crippling pain. Only now almost 12 months later am I "normal' again...
I will help you anyway I can - and offer you my wholehearted support.
Listen to your instincts, research like fury and you will find some answers I know.
Big hugs my love...

thank-you! thank-you! thank-you!
i know that unfortuneately there are things that have no answers and it is heartbreaking but at this stage i am not ruling out a "miracle"! I am the google queen - but most of what i find horrifies me or is in terms that i would never understand! (therefore leading to more googling!) I just wanted a bit more insight which you have given so if they say certain things i am at least familiar with them!
i will keep you posted after next week!
