No I haven't but I assumed that they wouldn't get to it until the end of the month. They would have to wait until the centre sent through their records and then work out the payments and pay everyone (which is a lot of people). Plus as this is the first quarter of them doing it I just naturally assumed there would be teething problems :D
I've not received anything either. I have been checking the FAO website to see if I'm getting anything through there but as of yesterday, nothing yet.
not sure why the website says October 2nd. the training we've had is that it will pay to the quarter ending on October 2nd, but won't start being paid until afer October 20th
sorry ladies... bit more waiting to be done...
Thanks BG. I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't a problem. The FAO girl in the medicare office told me Oct 2nd but she seemed to need a lot of help with things so she probably wasn't the most reliable source in the world!
Can I ask anyone that knows........should I have done anything in order to 'activate' this rebate through the FAO?
Will I get it automatically (I do recieve a small eligibility for CCB at the moment)? In my FAO payment?
it won't specifically go in with your regular FAO payment - it will just go into your account sometime after the 20th of this month - could be any time after that, depending on where your child care provider falls in the processing schedule
i got mine last week... ABout $300.... I just used it to pay the fees again so i'm in front now.
Jess, are you sure that's what it was? How many days child care did you use for the 3 months from July to September? If you received $300 back, that is 50% of what you paid, that means child care only cost you $600 for 3 months?
MR- i got the letter in the mail this morning... It says Child care tax rebate.... $347.60 (thought it was less but i had a payment ome out of my account aswell)
DS was only in care 1-2 days(just dropped him down to 1 day while i'm on maternity leave.
It says the rebate is 30% of my out of pocket expenses.
The 30% child care tax rebate is for the 2007/2008 tax year. That one is being now for people who have done tax returns. The 1st quarter payment for the 2008/2009 year is being paid after Oct 20 and is 50% of your out of pocket costs. So you should be getting another payment in a week or two.
I dont think i will get a payment? I thought it was done automatically when i paid my fees? I only pay about half of the actual amount each week. Is that right?
I haven't 'registered' for it either... Does the CCC pass on our info to the FAO, or do we have to organise it? Bummer, I was just on the phone to the FAO yesterday and forgot to ask about it :

ETA: Tobyturtle, obviously I'm no expert, LOL! But I think I read somewhere that with some centres you can receive your rebate straight away by paying less, or you can wait to get the rebate quarterly?
Thanks Snacks... That must be what i do!
I just looked at my last statement from the child care centre and it says on there "your potential Child Care Tax Rebate for this statement period is $xxxx" ? I might be wrong but to me that sounds like i would get some sort of rebate as well?
MR- Oooopppsss sorry yeah i just noticed it sayd 2007-2008....
So its quaterly now at 50%... how do i know if i'll get it??? i already get reduced fees????
I asked when I got a payment last month? I phoned and asked "please explain!" and they said it was the 30% rebate, also that the 50% rebate would be coming at the end of October. I said "I already get money taken out of fees for me, so I don't want to be paid twice" and he said "This is a separate payment, don't worry you are not being overpaid" I did nothing to receive it. But I phoned to make sure it was the right amount (as it seemed too high).
tobyturtle - the reduced fees you get is CCB, and any other fee reduction you are entitled to.
the 50% rebate is on top of this and is a quarterly payment of half of your out of pocket expenses. This is only paid quarterly (or annually if you specifically requested it) and not as a fee reduction. You dont have to register for it seperately, everyone who qualifies for CCB (even if you get 0%) gets it automatically.
