Im 35 weeks and considering a vbac. Have a 2 year old that was induced at 39 weeks and I didnt get past 1cm, so after 26 hours and 3 lots of gel, decided to go for c/s. I guess because I did not go through labour the first time, I have some concerns about a successful vbac, so am wondering if there are other women out there who did have a c/s bc of a failed induction and went on to a successful VBAC?

I was induced at 42 + weeks with my first, I had 3 lots of gel, than a syntocin drip as I was only 2 cm. After 5 hours I had only moved to 4cm and didn't progress past that. Resulting in a c/s.
With my second, I had an empowering VBAC (read the main site for my birth story).
I can't remember where all the sites are now, but after my second CS I found out lots of stuff indicating that intervention such as induction and aggressive drugs on drips to assist with labour actually have a high rate of failure and going to CS due to distress. I was then told that I could not be induced with no. 2 as one you have had a CS it can increase your risk of rupture, there is a lot of literature on aggressive intervention with drugs and bad outcomes, google it and see what you find. Anyway, I had a perfect labour with no. 2 after going into it spontaneously, only to be cheated at the end. I was given a form and told my baby was in danger, at 9cm dilated and just about there, only to find when I had my labour notes sent that there was no danger, and the doctor cannot give me a reason, heart rates were perfect, everything perfect, so why I wonder, but anyway, I am going to go for VBAC2, good luck with yours, just make sure you are really informed about the risks of all options, what the signs of problems are so that this is established, ie, I could have asked why they thought my baby was in danger, and when they had no answer I probably would have kept labouring, anyway, good luck!
