Yup.. pirate ideas needed.
The daycare that DS goes to is having a pirate day next Thursday - and of course - I know nothing about pirates.
They have to dress up as one, but being the slack mum I am - I have no idea how to dress him up like one!!!
Has to be pretty low fuss, low cost - all the usual requirements.
All I've got so far is to tie a bandana around his head.. LOL
Any help/ideas are GREATLY appreciated!!

I think Rach had a photo in the gallery of her little boy dressed as a pirate?
You could add an eye patch, a bird to his shoulder, or just to carry around, a sword maybe attach it by tying something around his belly?
Ooh maybe a bit of mascara or something else to show a bit of a beard? just rub it in...
3/4 pants?
what about a bag of 'gold'to carry around with him? or a treasure map or one of those scopes they look for land with? can't think of it's proper name ATM!

Stripey tshirt, belt, baggy pants rolled up around his shins. You could make a big folded paper hat using black paper and stick a feather in it, and an eye patch using black cardboard. Eyeliner pencil moustache and beard. And the important thing is to teach him how to "aaaargh" because it's all about feeling like a pirate!!
Mel, my boys had to dress as pirates a couple of weeks ago for "talk like a pirate day". Neither of them was very keen to dress up, so I wouldn't go too overboard. I put the big one in black trousers and a black T-shirt, with a black pirate hat which we got once at a Hungry Jack's birthday party. The other one had a white T-shirt and jeans with a bandanda (which lasted not even 5 minutes LOL).
ome other "piratey" ideas are a sword (made from cardboard covered in tin foil), an eye patch (although he might not like wearing it), a fake tatt and/or makeup beard, buckles for the shoes, "puffy" shirt.

You can cut out an eye patch from a used tissue box/ cereal box (ie cardboard!! LOL!) colour or paint it black, put a hole in each side and loop either 2 bits of string (or shoelaces!!) (so it ties up at the back) or a piece of elastic (so it just slips on)
My DS had a pirate day in preschool (and at the time he actually had a shirt with pirate piccies on it, so I didn't have to think much harder than that!)
Traditionally pirates usually wear frilly shirts and puffy pants if that's any help??
OH, and maybe draw on a thin moustache with eyeliner!!)

I think he'll like the sword idea - but I think that he'll throw the bandana off his head pretty quick smart!!!
Might have to raid his sisters wardrobe for any frilly tops.. pmsl...

I had to use my liquid eyeliner to do the beard cos my mascara was waterproof...pmsl
He wouldn't let me put his eye patch on him, or hold his sword for the pic... :(
