blood nose?
hi all! hope everyone is goin well....
just wondering if anyone else had this issue: i've noticed the last few days that my nose feels really 'blockish' and when i blow it dried blood and what looks like membranes (i hope that's the right terminology?) come out
gross i know
i haven't actually gotten a blood nose or anything but it looks like i'm bleeding without realising - and i can kind of taste blood in my throat everynow and then. eugh YUCK.
has anyone else experienced this and what's causing it? how can we make it stop?

I *think* they say that increased blood flow causes your nose to bleed. I used to get at least one blood nose a day, and my nose has only just (in the last two weeks) stopped having blood in it when I blow it. Very normal, but its not very nice hey

I get the stuffy nose thing when I'm pregnant. I get it as soon as implantation happens so far earlier than it's supposed to happen. It's completely normal. I also had what I would call slight nose bleeds. I would blow my nose in an effort to clear it (I never could manage it) and I would either get a little fresh blood or a little old blood.
I believe its from your respiratory tract receiving more blood during pregnancy. It's often coupled with bleeding gums. I got both.

Yes, I got it too! Apparently the increased blood flow while you are preggers can cause the fine blood vessels in your nose to rupture easily, causing blood noses. I got heaps while I was pregnant and don't usually. Funnily, my mum did too while she was pregnant. I know it's annoying but it will stop once your little bub makes it appearance!

Thanks everyone - :) i wasn't too freaked as i had heard that we have blood closer to the surface ??? or something like that so i figured it was something associated.
just disgusting and embarressing if in public

Hmm, I doubt many people will be checking out your snotty tissue once you're done, so I'd say most people won't even notice ;)

i've had a really stuffy nose for a few weeks now and then the last couple of days i've had some blood when i've blown my nose too. i was wondering what it was from, thanks.

I used to get spontaneous nose bleeds that sometimes took a while to settle, often at work which was a pain!!

Hey there,
I started having nose bleeds when i was about 8 weeks it something to do with increased blood flow and your capilleries they stopped a few weeks later.
I also read that its a symptom of second trimester to get a "stuffy" nose and i also have had these "membranes" when ive blown my nose. its gross. I mentioned it to my doctor at last appt and she said not to be too worried and that its common.

I've been having this too..but I have a yucky mucousy problem anyway when not pregnant, and often have a lot to 'cough up' from my throat when I wake up, and when I have dairy etc, so it freaked me out seeing blood when I coughed in the morning..then I noticed that I had blood when I blew my nose and bit later the cough was clear and 'normal' for me. but yes I understand freaking out a bit at it at first!

I got this too.
I've also read that it is common to have bleeding from your gums after brushing teeth, but I haven't had that (yet). All for the same reason: increased blood flow and some hormonal stuff (isn't it all just hormonal stuff) that makes the little blood vessels burst easier.
Nothing to worry about, just annoying.
