Allergic to lentils?
My son is allergic to wheat, nuts, eggs, dairy and soy.
He has just had a reaction to lunch at the children's centre and they served him lentil and vegetable risotto and watermelon and cantaloupe for dessert which I thought would be fine.
Do you think he could be allergic to lentils as well given his current allergy history?

Theoretically you can get an allergy to anything. Was it something you made yourself?

It wasn't something I made myself but the children's centre make all their lunches on site in their kitchen and I've seen their recipe and it was rice, lentils, mixed vegetables and cooking oil.
I do suspect it is lentils though...

Hi bigglet,
My 16 yr old son is anaphylactic to nuts. Lentils is in his foods to avoid list.....they're a cousin to peanuts. Apparently peanuts are listed as legumes. My son also avoids beans such as kidney beans, etc. and peas.
That's quite a list your son is allergic to, does he get bad reactions to everything or are some of them less severe?
We have recently found my 13yr old daughter is sensitive to wheat, she gets bloated and nauseous if she has any wheat products.
Cheers,

true allergy tends to be to a protein so I would suspect the lentils if he has had an allergic reaction.
Especially if you've had the other ingredients at home before with no allergic reaction.

He has had kidney beans and baked beans without any problems so I thought lentils would be ok. The only way I guess is if he had a test at the allergy clinic but they say it's a long wait at the children's hospital where he is currently being seen :(
He gets hives and rashes when he reacts - some are more prominant than others.
