How much does FDC cost?
Hi,
I'm hoping to put my two into FDC next year so that I can attend Tafe to do a full time course. We been put on the list in a few of our local area councils and should find out fairly soon. I didn't ask how much it would cost though and I was wondering if anyone can give me a rough estimate per hour? I should be entitiled to about 72% CCB aswell.
Thanks.

Hi
I live in country Victoria and the FDC rates here range between $5 and $6 per hour with a .40c admin fee per hour. thats for care between 8am and 6pm they charge more sometimes outside these hours. The Child Care benefit rate is 4.63 which is higher than the Long Day Care rate which means u get more back from the goverment so you pay less. Hope this helps :-)

Hi Claire. I'm in Sydney (around Ryde) and we use a community based FDC as our council doesnt run its own. The full rate for ours is $6.25 an hour, but once she turns two it was be $6 I think. We pay a bit less than that as we get CCB too.

Hi Claire
It will depend on your individual carer. Most schemes are now deregulated, which means that the carer can set their own rate. If you can get hold of a carer, they should be able to work out an estimate for you. It also depends how many hours you book in for. I have some families on the full subsidy who only pay about $5.00 per day and others who don't claim subsidies who pay about $40.00 per day. It all comes down to the hours they use.
I know this doesn't really help, but FDC usually works out cheaper then centres, although you usually have to provide food, nappies, etc yourself where in centres they provide some supplies.
