Food Consumption
Hi,
I'm expecting my first bub and am still learning a lot as I go along. I think I'm currently at 4-5 weeks.
Anyone knows if following food is safe to consume?
- Jalna yoghurt
- Bottled salad dressings including ones which are labelled mayonaisse but have no egg content.
- Should I be avoiding all salad dressings which has egg as one of the ingredients on the list?
Thanks for your help! I'm sure I'll be posting more down the track.

I eat Jalna all the time when I am preg (and when not) - I think it is fine?
I avoid all mayo and anty salad dressings with it in, even if no egg content just to be safe...
hope that helps

Hi Notshy, welcome to BB and congrats on your pregnancy!
Haven't heard of any of the above being dangerous? (I assume the dressing issue is a raw egg thing, so that makes sense!)
I seem to love Jalna yoghurt when pregnant! (Except for the fat free one - OMG that was baaaaaad.)
Look forward to seeing you around the forums :)

Hi,
Thanks for your replies.
Does that mean like those store bought dressings like Kraft, Coles or Paul Newman's salad dressings are fine?

My OB told me that anything store bought in a jar or sealed container is fine because the eggs have been pasteurised etc. I don't have anything that is freshly made like dressings such as aoili (sp?) made fresh in a restaurant as they often contain raw egg.

I eat mayo without egg constantly while pregnant (daughter allergic to egg, therefore we have eggless) I am sure it's only the egg that's the prob. x

It is all fine! Its all pasturised. I eat whole egg mayo from the supermarket, because it doesnt have raw eggs in it- it would go off sitting on the shelf otherwise! :D
