what on earth is a fritz?
oh ... um that's what us South Aussies call it... hahaaha ..
victorians call it something else... um.... let me see.....it's a roll of meat? in the fridge section of supermarkets - and oh... you might now it as devon?
haha
I'm not really sure, for me I would consider it to fall within all the other lunch cuts that a are a potential listeria worry. So if you're really hanging for it, just fry the fritz so it's hot and heated through, then have it on your sandwich. The heat will kill any listeria. Same goes for ham.
NB - fritz is similar to devon but more like berliner. Just yummier.
all those cold meats are a no no.
ham, salami, devon etc unless it's cooked and piping hot.
I'm really missing it, so I feel your pain. lol
Ah, ... another Ballarat person here whom has ' never ever ' heard of a Fritz ;)
Yep I wouldn't risk fritz personally. Not that I eat the stuff really anyway.
Love
if you google 'guidelines for the the control of listeria in hospital food service' a good fact sheet comes up by cci group. fritz is listed as high risk for listeria contamination. I wouldn't eat it personally
Hi girls :)
even though i didn't get the answer i wanted (and didn't really think i would)... thank you .... I didn't eat any fritz yesterday (woohoo to self control)
i'll just wait til I get another food craving that i can have.
only 23 more weeks til i can eat ham, fritz, camembert, kabana YUM YUM YUM :P
x
I hear ya on the camembert...... summer afternoons like this, my girlfirends and I usually have cheese and wine platters on a friday with some good verdelho.......
oh so its like strass or something on a roll? I love strass, I miss it too, hubby is still eating it too *cries*
OMG yum yum yum.
it's soooooo good to talk to ppl that understand my pain lol
my partner and i are addicts of cheese and dip platters, espec during warmer months. he hadn't eaten any cos i wasn't allowed but the other day he got some brie, camembert, pate and kabana and ate it in front of me. i almost cried.
when i think of what to pack for the hospital i'm so tempted to take a cheese platter and wine so i can eat it after i give birth LOL.... but then i remember i have to breast feed! :(
oh what, cant u eat camembert whilst breastfeeding? pooh!
I am resigned to the not drinking for forever with the aim of breastfeeding as long as possible, but I didnt know I wasnt gonna be able to have cheese either! I havent really started looking into breastfeeding dos and donts yet though!
Listeria can't be passed on through breast milk. So soft cheeses are fine during bfing - unless your baby has an allergy or intolerance to dairy.
PHEW! thanks for that MantRay!!
woops to my assuming and causing mayhem LOL
yes i too am resigned to never having another wine again... although i found these breast milk testing strips online where if you have a few drinks one night you can test your milk the next day to see if alcohol is present.
i intend to express also .. so DP and my mum can help out with feeds ....so i think i may be investing in some. I miss NZ sav blanc....
**** - I want some fritz now oh and some metwarzt - the real stuff.....reminds me how much I miss being in S.A :(
and um to your question...NO dont do it!!!! sen dit to me
My Dr has absolutely assured me that pasturised camanbert is fine to eat during pregnancy. I ate it all through my last pregnancy! Have had a small amount this time. i just avoid blue vein xo
