I tried heaps of different ones but DS reacted to most so I ended up going with a few different products that were organic. I really helped with his skin.
there are huge amounts to chose from!
i have johnsons lavender wash love it and milk bath
ghai
aromababy
and a few other brands they r all nice and have had no problems with any.
i was given them all apart from lavender bath which i bought
some babies have sensitive skin and can only use qv or similar
In the first few months I just used plain water with a teaspoon of olive oil. Now we use Miessence Sunflower Body Wash (miessence also now have a specific baby range).
Natty's skin reacts to the fragrances in the major brands (johnsons, huggies etc). We use GAIA natural baby wash. We buy it with the groceries and it costs about $10 (exxy, but you don't need to use much so it lasts a good while.) It doesn't have sodium laureth sulphate in it (that frothing agent - Natty seems to be sensitive to that one).
Beware though - before you start buying up big, know that if you have friends and family who will give gifts (and even people you don't think will give you gifts - they WILL LOL!) you will likely get a truckload of toiletries! So don't go all out IYKWIM. :)
have to second the gaia stuff. its beautiful.
try moogoo - the soap is gorgeous and edible, the udder cream great for nappy rash and lots of people swear by the scalp cream for cradle cap.
miessesnce, sukin, gaia, alchemy are all good, natural products. I definately wouldnt be putting J&J on my baby's skin.
I tend to stick to MooGoo, Gaia and Natural Instinct. DD1 gets excema with J&J and with QV (believe it or not!)
Yeah, QV did nothing for Natty's eczema either! I forgot, we have used Avado wash before and it had no ill effects for Natty. I believe it has natural ingredients also, and we found that at the grocery shop too.
I'd wait and see what your bub's skin is like before buying anything. We have never used any of the nice stuff we were given when Brock was born as his skin is so sensitive. In the early days we just used olive oil as recommended at the hossy. Now we use Dermaveen products. I still live in hope of one day being able to use all the nice products but I don't think that day will ever come.
The Miessense stuff is beautiful and will work for even the most sensitive babies. Having said that, the Moogoo, Gaia and other natural based products are good as well.
J & J & curash etc all have a petroleum based products as well as Sodium Laurel Sulphates which new babies easily react too.
The Body Shop is launching a baby range early next year. I'm hoping to use that.
There are websites that compare the toxicity of skincare products, J&J are the worst, they are made out of loads of petrochemical ingredients, even sorbolene has by-products... go organic, its more expensive but its not toxic. http://bellybelly.mionegroup.com
The Sunflower Bodywash is a great alternative to bubblebath.
