provera
Hi
I have PCOS, and am wanting to start TTC #3 (first 2 both clomid babies). I am BFing DS2 usually twice in 24 hours. Was doing the same with DS1 when i started TTC#2 with clomid, so i know all about that part.
The thing is, I NEVER O, so i always need to take provera to start a cycle. This time my ob/gyn wrote the script for me for 7 days. I thought then that last time it was for 10 days but couldn't be totally sure. Anyway, I know there is still time, but i took the 7th provera last wednesday, and AF hasn't arrived at all yet. BUT i had this weird thing on fri - when i took the boys swimming i put a tampon in JIC and when i took it out there was obvious signs of AF. More than just spotting - it was like 1/2 covered the tampon and bright red. but NOTHING since. no signs or symptoms, nothing.
WDYT??
My feeling is that i should've taken the provera for 10 days. But now, how long do i have to wait before i can start taking it again?? I'm SURE ob/gyn will tell me to give it more time if i ring her tomorrow, which i will, but i just think because of Fri's false start that if AF was coming she would have by now. And in the past it's only take a couple of days after the last provera to start a cycle.
Thanks - i'm just soooooooo impatient to start this first cycle

Hi LG,
I will be interested to hear how you go - how many days you have to take provera for. I am starting provera for the first time in Jan as since I have been on IVF my cycles have become very unpredictable. Good luck

there are different sorts of progesterone supplements taken to induce AF - i've used primulut for 10 days, and gotten AF when i should have several time - provera never worked. essentially with provera, you should get AF within 3 days of stopping it. if not, you would generally need another dose of it.
you may find, if you're still BF, your body just isn't going to play the game - if your other hormones are hinky, you may not have had a decent lining to shed (AF can be as minimal as 2mL) - i would speak to your care provider and see what they say. they might be prepared to change to primulot - i now know of several people for who provera has not worked, but primulot has.

ETA - what i was getting at with BF and provera - it may have prevented your progesterone getting high enough to actually have an AF-inducing progesterone drop...

Hi LG.
I am in the same boat as you! To conceive DD I didn't even take provera - just one cycle of clomid (25mg on days 5 - 9) then scan to check for follies, which showed a nice one on day 12 and a trigger shot straight after that and after a few days DTD with hubbie we were pregnant with my darling!
This time around I am living in a different city and my Ob has prescribed me Provera 10mg for 7 days. Then once my period starts (I hear it can be anything from 2 to 14 days from last Provera tab), I take clomid days 5 - 9 again. BUT this time no scan on Day 12 and no trigger.
I am not only wondering if the Provera should be for 10 days adn not 7, but also why I am not getting a scan like last time. I think I might ask for one and also the trigger shot, seeing as it worked for me with #1...
BTW I'm on day 4 of Provera - how have you gone with your cycle?

Hi!
Well to up-date... I rang ob/gyne and she said that ANY bleeding was to be counted as CD1. Even though there was NOTHING that followed that teeny tiny bit of blood. So, I took clomid on CD5-9 (with that tampon episode being CD1:p), and I am now on CD21 which is when i have O'd in the past. Unfortunately no O signs here yet :( But will see how we go. If we don't get pg this month we're not going to try anymore so this is it! I had a BT today to check for O but i'm 99% sure it will say no O, and another BT on CD24 - so hopefully there's some O action in the next couple of days. My gut feeling is that I won't O and it's something to do with not having a proper start to the cycle. Which I am annoyed about because since we are only trying for one cycle it would be nice to actually OVULATE:rolleyes::pray:
Bellabub, I never have had a scan or trigger shot, just BTs to check progesterone levels which indicate O.
briggsy's girl, so do you think it's possible to still O even without having shed the lining??
Thanks girls for your replies!!

i've been forced to O 8 times without a period first - they just check that myblood hormone levels are flatlined before i start on meds

Ohhh that IS encouraging! Thanks for that!! I feel a bit more positive that it's possible now:D
