Is YOUR ABC Centre staying open?

When I picked up DD this afternoon, there was a notice saying our centre will be staying open in 2009 and our position is secure... HUGE relief!!! So, just wondering if anyone else has found out their centre is staying open?

I guess I'll find out tomorrow MG when I drop DD off ....will be interesting!!! Thanks for the heads up!

I heard on the news theres a site (im guessing the ABC main site) with a list of all the centres that will be staying open.

The one that I was going to send Claire to isnt on the list (however I know the place still exists), so I guess it might be closing. I'm glad I didnt choose that particular centre now!

I hope those whos centre is closing can get alternate care sorted out quickly.

Hmm, well our centre isn't yet on that list however we were told yesterday that it is still under review and if it does close the kids will get transfered to another centre close by.

Oh wow the brand new centre they built right next to our Kindy (only been open for a couple of years) is not on the list. We don't use it, but we thought they would be kept open cause of the Kindy. Alot of the kindy kids go back to that centre after session.

Yes, ours is staying open thank goodness!

The ABC centre down the road from Nina's daycare (which isn't ABC) isn't on the list. Earlier in the week they started organising transfers for the kids as of January 09, most of which are going to Nina's daycare.

:hug: Westy. Don't panic just yet though. My Director told me they haven't made a final decision to close the other centres as yet - they're still being reviewed and may remain open. We were also told that they would be moving some of the kids from other centres over to ours... Keeping my fingers crossed your centre will stay open!

and the worst thing is when transfers are organised .. as a non working parent we get last preference

Oh bummer to those who's CCC isnt on the list. Might be an idea to just put your kids names on waiting lists for other centres in the area just incase? :hug:

MG...Thanks darl, i'm happy for my son to go to one of our other local centres (abc) as they are all new centres it is for this reason that i dont think ours will close but their is a chance it will as it is on a leased premise.

Where are you?

A guy at work's DP is at an ABC centre as a teacher and they have been told they will be paid into next year and should be OK but everyone has lost any leave or holiday pay they had accrued.

I had a quick look at the list - funny, it seems the ones tat are staying open are (majority) in the areas where they charge more.

I really feel for everyone affected by this, and for the workers to loose their entitlements.... :dunno:
