smelly wash- what can help?

when i wash my mcn they smell bad if theres a couple of (rinsed) pooey ones in the mix. i've just done a strip wash, i only use a little bit of unscented washing powder, i dry them on the line in full sun, but they dont smell good. the pooey ones were toxic waste so didnt go in the dry pail, instead i dechunked them and wet pailed them- that's where the bad smell comes from, even tho i rinsed off the foul water before adding them. is there something safe for mcn i can put in the soak water if i'm forced to wet pail? I'm thinking about nappy soaking products- is there any that are ok for mcn, or alternatives? or whatabout adding some teetree oil to the wash? my mcn are PUL and fleece, bamboo, hemp and microfibre.

I'm not sure about the cleaning products - hopefully someone else can advise you there.

But, regarding the poo - have you tried lining the nappies so that the poo doesn't stick? I use disposable liners in DS's nappies & I rarely have to scrub/soak them - the poo stays on the liner & I can just lift it off & flush it. That way I can still dry pail the nappies.

A vinegar and bi carb wash is supposed to get rid of the smells.

thanks for the ideas - i am definately gonna try bicarb and vinegar, and i presently have tee tree oil in the wet pail. Liners are great but my bub wont keep still long enough to keep them in place. he wriggles and twists and tries to escape when ever i put on a nappy- thus i had to switch to pockets for the speed factor. he can open them too so you have to hold him down and put pants on top or he naked again in 5 seconds.

DS is the same (that's why I use pockets too!. I line the pocket prior to starting the nappy change - so it takes no more time. I can still just whack the pocket nappy on him & do it up! (just like your little man, he can undo the velco too - so I have to put pants on quickly!!).
