Ok, a bit weird- but I really like the spelling of the girls names Qiana and Qiara much more than Kiana and Kiara. I also like the Italian spelling of Chiara, but having people pronounce the Ch like 'Chew' would really do my head in after a while!!!
Opinions? Which of the 2 Q names do you prefer and why?

I'm sorry, but I can't get my head around either of the names! Q to me is a bit weird without an "u".

I havent seen it before with a Q. I would go to Qiara as i like the name but i def prefer it with a Ch.
My friend's sister has a Qiarna ;)
I know a couple of Chiara's and they have never had problems with the pronunciation of their names - I think you would have more problems with the "Q" versions personally.
I like it - you could do all sorts of Qi names...Qielle...anyway. :p

I agree - Chiara would be much easier for someone to wrap their head around then Qiara.
Generally the letter Q follows with a U.
IMO it's complicated, confusing and looks a tad too made-up - although I'm really not a fan of "kriatyve" spelling. I much prefer traditional spellings - it's adds class to the name.

I have always thought that Qu makes a kw sound and Qi makes a ki sound. I agree that you will get a lot of 'so how do you spell it', but I have a traditional and traditionally spelled name and I get many (MANY!) variations! Either way you are going to get someone spelling or pronouncing it wrong. (I once had someone spell Jones as Joans, how hard a name is that to get wrong???!!!) If you like it go for it, not everyone has to like what you do!!

We have a bit of a joke going in my family that you could technically spell ZAC as XAQ :) Sometimes it's just bit silly! But I think Qiara is fine!

Sorry but maybe just because it starts with a Q I was pronouncing it Qwiara and Qwiana.
Lol- yes, without the letter 'u' next to it, Q sounds exactly like K. It's a fault in the English language- the Q is kinda made redundant without the u next to it to make the 'Qwe' sound.
Although I know it may look unusual to us, Q names (without the letter u) are common in Arabic countries and originate from the Hebrew language.
I'm glad to read of some Chiara's who don't get Ch pronounced like the 'ch' in chew. I showed the name Chiara to my Mum, and she pronounced it this way which totally put me off it.
I also thought most people were familiar with Qi being pronounced as Key, but perhaps I was wrong!!
I still really like Chiara, but DH likes the Q (he's a quirky one) so the jury is not out on this one I'm afraid......

I prefer "k" for kiara or kiana so that people the child wont have a hard time spelling his or her name to people. It's more comfortable for the child also. that's what I think.
