Feeling short of breath
I am 25 weeks pregnant, and in the last 24 hours I have been really short of breath., To the point that it kept me awake last night for about 2 hours. I seem to feel worse when lying down, but I am just so darned tired. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Hi Meggie,
If your shortness of breath had a sudden onset or has any pain or dizziness attached i'd go and get it checked out....... Infact if it was severe enough you couldn't sleep, probably worth getting looked at anyway. ;)

Thanks.
Might give Obs rooms a call in the morning. As DH is working as a paramedic tonight in the area, if I feel I need it I will call an ambo, and it will be him that will take me in to hossy

I've been getting similair to you from about 20+ weeks.
For me it's just everything getting squashed upwards that's doing it, especially if I sit reclining or lie down in bed not long after I have eaten.
My midwife said it's nothing to worry about just not much room left.
I also get a racy heart at the same time.
Try sitting up or lying with a couple pillows this helps me alot when it happens and will usually get better in about a half hour.

A certain amount of breathlessness is normal as all you internal organs have less and less room as your pregnancy progresses. If you are unsure or worried don't hesitate to call your OB, midwife or hossy. That is what they are there for. Try moving around a bit, leaning forward or even a bath (it takes the pressure off a bit and can sometimes help you relax). Hope your feeling better soon hun.

i had this quite a bit with my first pregnancy, turned out to be acid reflux... try to lie down with your back up if that makes sense, like in an easy-boy chair or something... or try just to slow your breathing down, take as deep breaths as you can and let them out slowly, this should stop you hyperventilating and panicing.

Hows it going Meg? I find some days worse then others and at some times when I get SOB it makes me get anxious and bit panicky.
All your lungs are getting squished so that doesn't help. Any other symptoms? How are your iron levels? I thought mine could be due to that but they've come back ok.
