I was just thinking today how much I have worried in 2008 with regards to my DD. She was born in January and I swear I've worried about everything. Am I doing this right? Am I doing that right? I guess being a first time Mum brings many challenges. There are times I've doubted myself, feeling totally frustrated when my DD is screaming non-stop, wondering whether I am in fact a good Mum.
I worried about breastfeeding, cot sleeping, controlled crying (which I didn't continue with, think it lasted a day!), formula feeding, am I feeding her enough, is she healthy enough, getting enough milk, drinking enough water, sleeping enough, in pain with teeth and wind. You name it...I worried about it. I read many books....and ignored a particular book that stated that teething was no problem to babies. Sure. I guess if you believed everything you read, you would go crazy!
I looked at my DD today and she is now 11 months old. I can't believe how much she has grown, how happy she is and what a lovely little girl she is. There is just so much more ahead of us as a family. I can look at her now and know I have been a good Mum and done a mighty good job.
Before I had my DD, I was an extremely organised person in my work. We had BIG clients and it was stressful. So understandably, when DD came along, being organised went out the door.
I love my DD so much and I wouldn't change being a parent for the world (even though it has been hard), nothing beats the rewards.
Now we are talking about our next one!
