Not too sure about this, maybe some parts of the course you could do it by correspondance but I would highly doubt the whole thing could be done. You'd have to do placement as part of your course. I think you may actually need to become a nurse first then go into the field from there - I vaguely remember that when I asked one of my MW could be off the mark though.
You can study by correspondance through University of SA. Have a look on their website University of South Australia - quality university study and education in Australia and you can find more info there. You do need to travel to Adelaide a couple of times a year for workshops though and obviously you have your placements to do. I think they try to get you a placement near your home, but if they cant then you have to travel to SA for your placement. I think its the only uni where you can do an undergrad bachelor of midwifery by correspodance.
Thanks ladies i will look into that Karina!!
No worries. I think the applications have probably closed for next year. I'm not sure if they accept late applications but if you're keen then give them a call and see. I believe you have to do an interview (over the phone) too. I'm currently studying nursing by correspondance through the same uni and some of the nursing subjects are also in the midwifery degree. Good luck whatever you choose!
You probably still can apply through SATAC for BMId through uniSA for next year. I looked into this too. Only prob was you needed a TER of about 94 to get in and unfortunately my TER is 80. I've decided to do BNursing thorugh CQU uni externalyl then I'll do the masters of Mid.
no sorry
