Finding out sex of twins
Hi Girls,
I'm a new twin mum, due 08/07/09.... no doubt have my hands full and want to be prepared as possible... hope you can help with a few questions.
1) Twins can generally come early, so when did you all have your nursery set up?
2) Did you find out the sex of bubs? Did it make things easier? Originally we were not going to find out, but since finding out its twins I'm questioning if it would be a good idea to find out - can you be any more prepared by finding out other than having colour appropriate clothes?
Thanks a bunch!

Hi,
I was induced at 36weeks as I was huge my husband had to drive me around everywhere and walking was soooooo painful. Hana was 5p 10ozs and Sam was 7p 3ozs, they are 10 weeks today. The first 6 weeks I found really hard but know we are in a routine they are the best babies you could ever have.
Yeah we found out the sex of the babies not to get organised we just wanted to know what we were having.
Good luck

Friends of mine have just had twins at 38 weeks. They weren't planning to find out sex when it was one baby, but because it was twins they decided to find out.
Their twins are boy/girl and people are still asking which is which. If you have identical babies, you might want to think about how you are going to know who is who. Either different coloured clothes, or different coloured nail polish.

our friends had twins recently at 34 weeks, they didnt find out the sex but had two boys!

I am currently 24 weeks pregnant with Twins.
We did find out the sex of the babies, as for me it just made things a whole lot easier. I am expecting two boys.
I have their bedroom all set up now while I have had the energy. I am due end of March but the Obs has indicated probably end of feb

I had my twins at 37 weeks and 3 days by elective c/s.
We found out the sex of our babies, as I believed it would make it a lot easier to be prepared. My twins were born in May 08 so I made the most of the summer clearance sales before they were born to buy for this summer. I had to guess what sizes they would be but it wasn't that hard.
We had our nursery set up by 30 weeks as I wanted to be prepared if they came early. I also wanted to be the one who help put the cots together, and hang the pictures on the wall. I was worried that if I got to big I would have to sit back and watch.

In terms of do you or don't you find out the sex - I think it is more or less the same as one baby. You can decorate their room, buy clothes, choose names etc if you know. It's convenient to know but definitely not necessary... We decided to find out and since we were having 2 girls and already had a little girl, it was nice to know I could wash all the little baby things.
our girls were born at 37 and a half weeks. I think they say about 50% of twins are born before 37 weeks so you still have a pretty good chance they WON'T be early.
you will be pretty uncomfortable in those last weeks though so try to get your nursery decorating out of the way early! good luck! welcome to the twin mummy club! having twins is lots of fun!

Welcome to being a twin mummy!!!
For me I found out what I was having as I felt it would just be easier to have everything ready, room decorated etc for me but I think that is really a personal choice.
My twins were delivered by c/sect at 38 weeks and 1 day. They were 6lb 4oz and 6lb 8oz. I always thought twins would comer really early but who knows when mine would have arrived as it was a planned c/sec due to the position of the bubs.
I would say get your room ready as early as you like. I ordered my nursery furniture as soon as I hit 12 weeks and when it arrived we set everything up ready. Sure the nursery was set up for ages before they arrived but if the babies do come early at least it is done and you don't have to worry and by the end you will be feeling quite uncomfortable and just want to lay on the couch ;)
Good luck. Enjoy every moment of it.
