Anterior cervix
Just needing a little help, had my 40 week appointment today and on my notes my Ob has written - cervix anterior 1cm long, 1-2cm dilated.
I understand the 1-2cm dilated but is an anterior cervix favourable? Is that what i want it to be in order to go into labour? She didnt say anything about it at the appointment, i only just read my antenatal record and saw it on there.
I also had a s&s, **** - how much did that hurt :o Hopefully things will be underway shortly
TIA

im no expert but know that for most of the pregnancy the cervix lies towards the back of the vagina, behind the baby's head. This is called a 'posterior cervix' and is often hard to reach by your OB if they are performing a vaginal examination. Near the time of labour and / or during prelabour and early labour, the cervix starts to move towards the front of the baby's head. This is known as either a 'central' or 'anterior cervix' (depending on how far forward it has moved), and can usually be easily felt by your OB if being examined.
So its good news :D

also when i went into labour on the monday night i had, had my appt with my OB that morning - not sure if she did a S&S but she did something and it hurt and i was uncomfy for the rest of that day (and night when the contractions started and the next morning LOL)
So fingers are crossed that things happen tonight for u!
-
good luck with it all hun

Thanks hun, she did say that if the s&s was going to help then it will happen within the next 24 hours or so. It s abit uncomfy but not painful now.
Still trying to dogde the induction bullet but my PE hasnt gotten any worse so that's a bonus :)
Sounds like i want to have an anterior cervix then!

Its Great new that ur PE hasn't got anyworse!
and yep i was uncomfy right up until the contractions started! i managed to go for a long walk also so not sure if that helped at all!
i have a gut feeling it will happen for u tonight tho!
Goodluck if it does!
Relax and enjoy every bit of it - it goes too fast and will be over before u know it!!!
im getting sooooooo excited for u!
-
As soon as it cools down a bit and dh is home from work - going to do the walk around the block, hills and all :)
-
Goodluck walking does wonders trust me :D

Anterior cervix is good!
Usually for most of pregnancy your cervix points towards your back (posterior) and as labour gets closer it moves through the midline, to point towards the front where yours is now.
Hang in there, hope you don't have to wait too much longer :)

Thanks ladies for the info - no news yet, currently bouncing on the fit ball!!
Have an induction booked for monday morning so its a race to beat it atm. Its been 24 hours since s&s and have only had irregular tightenings since.
-
Keep bouncing!
ur not meant to be writting on BB - ur meant to be in hospital having a baby! hehehe
-
keep bouncing & if you feel up to it a nice long walk may be a great help (helped kick start both my labours!)

I wish i could walk far Dani, the best i can do is around the block once. The swelling in my legs is so bad that i can hardly bend at the knee and my ankles rolls are rubbed raw and painful :(
You have to see it to believe it. I have pictures just to remind me. I look like a size 16 on the bottom then my regular size 8 on top. Its baaaaaaddd
HJ, wish i was in hossy - still bouncing though!
