Another weight whinge!
Seems i am always whingling about my weight in this pregnancy lol. Sorry but it's really getting to me now! Has anyone here not gained anything at all for the entire pregnancy? What happened after bub was born did you suddenly loose heaps of weight?
I have lost yet another 1kg! So that is 7kg lost all up and nothing gained. I'm 33 weeks for christ sake! I am all belly and yes it is smaller than the previous 2 pregnancies but come on, why isn't it showing?
I suppose i shouldnt complain but its starting to worry me a lot!

Oh Antheia... if only we were all so lucky:lol: Im sure it is not a problem, bubs is taking a lot from you at this stage of the pregnancy and as long as your belly (and bub ) is still growing and you are feeling well I realy would`nt worry. If you are concerned ask at your next checkup..... They would tell you if they thought there was a problem.
A friend of mine recently had a little boy, when she was pg she was diagnosed with G/D and had to go on a strict diet and she lost a fair amount of weight, I think she nearly went back to her pre pg weight by the end but both her and bub were both fine.
This whole pregnancy experience is amazing but we have so many things to worry about dont we !!! Hang in there.

I can understand you being concerned but I guess I'd ask myself whether there's a logical reason for the weight loss.
A friend of mine had lost 10kg by the end of her pregnancy but it was understandable. She was quite overweight beforehand and was a big drinker and eater. Obviously she cut out the drinking and all those calories disappeared from her diet and she ate more sensibly too.
I was similar - drank too much and ate too much before I got pregnant. By week 20 I hadn't gained a thing and by week 40 I'd gained 6kg. That was without being able to do any exercise either from week 28 because I could barely walk (unstable pelvis). Plus DD was 4kg so quite big.
But if your diet and exercise have remained the same as before pregnancy and there's no logical reason why you're losing weight, I'd mention it to your doctor.

At first i thought it was because i have had nausea until 25ish weeks and bad heartburn. But lately i have been so hungry and eating heaps and still i am losing weight. I have mentioned it heaps to GP and midwife and both are not concerned. So i know is houldnt be but its hard not to you know? I am overweight but have never been a big eater. I was overweight with DS too but gained 10kgs (and lost it all the day after birht). And i do weigh less than i did with him but i still find it rather odd to be losing so much.

I feel for you Antheia. I lost 6kg's in the first 16 weeks, and by 31wks I'd only put back on 4 of that, and I haven't gained any more since, even though I've been eating like there's no tomorrow and pigging out on chocolate and other junk. I'm a bit overweight too, which is probably why my OB isn't worried about it, but it does get a little bit worrying sometimes.

You are probably losing fat even though you are gaining baby weight, if that makes sense?
Your carers wouls be able to tell if the baby wasnt growing (or they had concerns) and Im sure would not hesitate to send you in to be checked out if they were at all worried.
I've known a lot of people to stay the same or lose weight during their pg. One lady I know (who was quite over weight at the beginning of her pg) lost over 15 kilos in her pg, then another 15 or so after the baby and was almost the weight she was in high school after about 3 weeks.

There is an increase in metabolism during pregnancy as well so if you are just eating a little bit less than normal it can result in an overall weight loss.
I was 10kg less with my first pregnancy and ended up 8kg less than my pre-pregnant weight with DS as well. This time I have only gained (roughly) 5kg so I will be less than pre-pregnant after birth too.
As long as you are getting the normal movements and bump is measuring to size then try not to worry - it is a great side effect that many are jealous of. Usually, it just means we had a little more *flesh* on our bones to start with than our leaner friends ;)

I lost 13kg during my first pg, but I had hyperemesis for most of it, so I wasn't eating at all. With this pg I've gained about 6kg so far, but I actually look slimmer in the face than before I fell pg, so I think the weight is all belly and boobs. I too am a bit overweight and I think that's why the docs dont get very concerned. With the first pg the doc said "the baby gets everything first, you get everything second" and mentioned that the fat stores are pretty much used up by baby if worst comes to worst. Try not too worry too much, hon. :)

Antheia,
I lost weigh anddidnt put on a kg with my twins and actually lost all up 20kg the days after they were born. I looked small for twins- i was wide round rathter than out there. They were good sizes for their gestations- even though they were 10 weeks early so our weight doesnt seem to matter
this time around i have only put on 6kg and i am heaps bigger in the belly and boobs compared to last time. bubs is travelling in the middle, rather than the sides like my twins and is head down- so that seems to make a difference.
So as long as you are healthy, bubs is growing- that is the main thing
hang in there!!!

I was about 98kg before getting PG, 95kg at 11weeks, 95kg at 35weeks, 101kg at 41+2 (day before birth), 95kg on day 4 PP, and 77kg at 5months post partum. I breastfed until 7 months PP and began running and swimming at 5 weeks PP.
Now (33months post partum) i am about 79kg, but i was 83kg a few weeks ago and i ate better and exercised more to 80kg, then got ill for 2 weeks and lost another 3 or so, but have gained 2 back eating Christmas fayre after my recovery... ;)
