DS was bitten by mossies last week and the bites have developed into this - they're hard & raised, but don't seem to hurt when I touch them. DH wants me to take him to the doctor, but I don't think its to be too worried about. WDYT?
Are they pussy or anything?
I'd probably take him to the Dr as a precaution. He may be allregic. Mozzie bites don't usually last a week.
Hmmm, are/were you in a rural area? I always get those when i'm in a rural area and get bitten - i'm allergic to cows blood and that's usually the last thing they bit. Try to prevent scratching as lots of mine have scarred (i picked at them!). Also sometimes mine swell the whole area (like the whole of the underside of my upper arm like a big bingo-wing on my bingo wing) or i get red snaking lines along the skin above the veins in that area where the allergen has entered the blood stream. If he gets either of those i'd head to the docs because he's so young - i was 22 last time it happened and ignored them and they healed up after a few weeks.

No, They're not puss-y and we haven't been anywhere rural.
My Dad will say I need to get him into the surf more (that's Dad's solution for everything) I might take him down to the chemist & see what the pharmsist says.
I used to have mozzie bites do that when I was a kid. I don't think you need to worry but it never hurts to get it checked out if you are not sure.
you could try medihoney .. its great on almost everything , unless of course they are allergic to honey!!
they dont look too bad DS has about 12 on his feet yesterday and his foot swelled up heap and they were soo itchy DD has them on her face and body , they have turned into sores .. chemist said it would take about a week for them to heal and they get worse looking before they get better !!
sure their mozzie bites and not sand flee bites? I use to get that sort of reation to sand flee bites (nasty buggers) get some calamin lotion hon...its sooths and stops the itching...there's also a cream called stop itch that does the same.

Hi Snowy Love, my DS and DD are allergic to mozzies, when they get bitten the bites come up as big, red, itchy welts. Our Dr recommends Calamine Lotion to sooth the itch and if they're really, really bad and there are a lot of them, a dose of Claratyne (oral antihistamine) and DermAid cream (1% hydrocortisone) used sparingly. All of these are available over the counter at chemists.
My poor little DD has three bites on her face at the moment. She looks terrible :(.

I was going to say the same thing. My brother use to have the same look when he was bitten by sand flies. Calomine lotion here too :)

SNowy - DD gets really bad red marks when mozzies bite.
About3cm in diamter on each spot. They stay about 2 weeks then go away.
i wouldnt be worried if it is just red marks...
when she wakes ill pop a pic up for you :)
personally i wouldn't be worried .. Breastmilk is great for stopping the itch and helping it heal.. I use it on my own as well..
if that doesn't work go to the Chemist and get a cream.. Usually washing each bite with warm salty water can help to or go for a dip in the ocean if its close by.. also don't use any soaps for a few days.. not even shampoo.. I know my boys reacted even more when I used any types of soap..
