Our 12 week scan on Friday told us our baby had died.

After a weekend of deliberation about what to do I decided to have a D&C - only because I wanted to know what went wrong and whether our baby was a boy or girl (can't tell you why this is important but it is). That was booked for this morning. Knowing was important to us as we lost our baby girl earlier this year due to chromosomal abnormality.

Yesterday afternoon I had a miscarriage. This was the most painful and awful experience I have ever been through.

Now I feel numb - just need to keep my brain busy so I don't think too much. After five years of trying it all seems too much.

Thank you to you all for your thoughts - it is so sad to read this forum & see how many people have been through a similar experience.

My DH told me that the morning of the scan where we found out our baby had died that while he was walking the dog he had a very strong feeling that our baby was a girl & thought of a name for her. We have called her Emily. We didn't have the opportunity to validate this but my husband is an amazing man and I trust in his knowledge.

He also told me that he knows that our girls are with his Mum & Dad now (who he has lost in the past few years). They were great people & wonderful grandparents. He is not a very spiritual person but this is a beautiful and comforting thought & I am really grateful that our girls are together and with their family.

I'm so sorry for your loss, especially at this time of year. I had a d&c last friday because our baby had no heartbeat at 8 weeks. It's a very traumatic experience and my heart goes out to you. I completely understand about wanting to know if its a boy or girl because I asked my doctor to tell me too when the tests come back. We want to try again as soon as we can not to replace our first baby but because I feel it will help. You have to do what your ready to do and not listen to anyone else. You'll be in my prayers and stay strong.:hug:

Renee - I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It is such a cruel thing that no one should have to go through. It is a very hard road and after 5 years of trying I can understand how hard this must be for you. My second m/c was a missed m/c and to look at that screen and see little arms & legs but no hb it just devastating so I can relate to the shock and pain that you must have felt during that scan. For me the pain of my losses is always there, it has eased but I still have a cry for those babies. To help cope I made a little garden in our front yard and that is the garden for my babies I never met. Sending you a big hug, I hope you have good support around you and your dream of holding your forever baby in your arms one day will come true.

Renee - im so sorry for your loss! im another who has gone thru a few M/C and it isn't easy!

My Dad brought me a tiny teddy to remind me of my first Bub (M/C) and DH got me another tiny teddy for our second bub (M/C), we were 3rd time Lucky with Bianca.

I got upset reading this, I lost mine baby at bout 6ish weeks (I had feeling it was girl too, just cause I didnt have no sickness). :pray:

Laura, thank you for sharing with me. This is a time in our lives when we do feel alone (both me & my amazingly beautiful DH) and as sad as I am for your experience I appreciate you have the generosity and courage to share.

I hope you can use this amazing courage to get through your experience.
