Fisher Price Swings
Hi,
Just wondering if any of you would recommend the Fisher Price take along swing? I have a 2month old baby girl and we were at friends the other day and I put her in their swing and she absolutely loved it. It settled her right away. I am just afraid that if I get one she'll get used to being rocked to sleep by the swing and it will become a habit. Has this been an issue with any of you? Also to what maximum age or weight do the swings carry the baby?
Thanks

We have bought this one for our little bub!! Can't tell you yet how it is as bub hasn't arrived yet ;)
They are recommended for up to 11.3kg babies. Well this one is anyway. Other one's may vary. We plan not to use it alot just for short periods of time throughout the day. I think as long as bub isnt in it all the time then they will be fine.

i have a FP cradle nature swing.
And DS loves it too.
BUt he also self settles in his cot without any patting or rocking as has since about 9 weeks.
So i dont think you bub will get used to rocking and need it if you alternate the ways she sgoes down ?

Yep what Ren said. I didn't have the FP one, but I had an unsettled reflux baby and found it to be a godsend if I needed a short period of time to do something.
Didn't find it changed her sleeping habits at all (though her's were non existent anyway).
I got rid of mine which I'm a bit sad about but I was worried what Darcy would do to a baby 'trapped' in a swing lol.

we have the take along swing and its great when DS is in mood for it! we bought this one due to weight so can get maximum use out of it!!
DS has reflux and was great for usin while i am in shower or doing a few things.
go on buyone!!!
eta we also dont have sleep patterns so not an issue here

We didn't use one at all for DS1, but it was a life-saver with DS2. He was a very unsettled baby and the only places he would settle were the sling (but only while I was moving around) or the swing. Needless to say I couldn't have survived without it. It really just depends on the baby I think.
Oh and BTW, DS2 is a fantastic sleeper now. He goes down without any fuss for a day sleep and at night, so it certainly didn't do any harm there.

Thanks girls. I think I will get one. My baby is a great sleeper but really unsettled when awake. I think it will be very useful for when I need to have a shower etc.

oh I have the take along one and I LOVE it! Ashton goes in and plays, when he was a little younger he used to fall asleep in it but I never had problems with him wanting it each sleep time so I think you will be right :)

I had a swing each for my twins and they loved them, and it was a god sent for me. My two still fit in theirs but don't go in them much anymore as they prefer to be down on the floor now, but I would highly recommend having one.

I have a swing and it is fantastic for those moments where i need some time to get things done. Byron will fall asleep in it if i leave him long enough but he mainly likes the movement and colours and it will keep him amused for 1/2 hour while i cook/eat dinner or hang the washing out etc.
Probably one of the best things i bought - i got ours on ebay for a great price as i dint really wnat to fork out $$$ for something he might only use for a few months

Get one! Great for when bubs is unsettled and you need to shower/cook dinner etc... Great for my DD when she was grumpy, and hasn't cause any sleep probs. :D

Thanks girls,
I went and got one today and my DD loves it already. She was unsettled before and I put her in the swing and within 2 mins she was settled. I am so glad I got it.
