I have found relief from endo, no drugs involved
I am 36 and have suffered from painful periods since they started. after many years of seeing doctors about the pain it was discovered i had a very large cyst on one ovary that needed to be removed. They found that I had extensive endo and which was also in my appendix and I also had appendisitis because of it. It was in the public hospital system so they didnt excise all the endo (they told me they had to leave a lot of it). 6 months later and 12 months later I had more endo removed but no relief from symptoms. Yes I was told to have a baby and that it was probably 'phantom pain'. I was put on Depo Provera and also did a course of danazol. I eventully heard about the ECCA site and went to see Dr Michael Cooper. He was amazing and listened to me, didnt offer any stupid suggestions and said that they could cut it out instead of burning it to have more lasting results. I did have a couple of ok years after that just taking the pill but then it got worse again. I moved to QLD and went to see a doctor here who put me on Zolodex for 6 months. That was fine but I still had pain after stopping. I stayed on the pill for a few years until I couldn't deal with it anymore and then went to see a doctor from the ECCA site in Brisbane. One of my ovarys had been stuck down for a long time and I decided that I would have it taken out. He did that but I still had pain in the same side. We also discovered that I wasn't ovulating. I had been on the pill, zolodex, danazol, and depo provera for 8 years as it was too painful to not take anything. I also have a fibroid that has been left alone, but luckily I've never had to deal with endometriomas. I was at my wits end with it all, and although I had been to a Natuopath a few times with not much result, I decided to try again. To my luck I booked in with a lady who also works in a Natural fertility clinic and she suggested I get a hair analysis done. She said in the clinic the first thing they check for is copper levels. I was found to have had toxic levels of copper so put me on a detox program. I am taking zinc, Vitamin b6, magnesium, Vit C and also a very potent antioxident called algotene (its hard to get but it can be bought on-line). I have been off all medications including the pill for 2 months now and am almost pain free for the first time in probably about 10 years. The lower back pain that i used to deal with almost on a daily basis has completely gone. The detox has been hard work, I sweat alot and have all the same symptoms as when I took danazol like acne, the naturopath believes that I have had years of all these drugs still in my system which may be the reason I stopped ovulating. I haven't resumed periods yet and I'm hoping things will get back to normal. I'm told it will take 3-6 months and 2 months has past. But being pain free is the best thing. I researched the copper thing on-line and found that taking lots of zinc and magnesium before your period can reduce the pain as copper and estrogen levels increase just before it. (copper and zinc compete for absorbency) so keeping your zinc levels up may help.
I know that this may not apply to everyone but it has certainly helped me and given me my life back, as well as painfree sex for the first time in a very long time. So if I can help just one person who has been through the same nightmare then it will be worth it
I just have to see if I start ovulating again.
