im wondering if the bassinette on my pram (bugaboo) is ok for me to use in the first few weeks for bub to sleep in all night? id like to have her next to me in my room for the first month or 2 before i move her to the cot in her own room. Is there any reason i have to buy a bassinette as well or is the pram ok?

I used our pram bassinette for the first 2 months or so and it was fine. In fact, we couldn't have been more happy! He was at the base of our bed in it until we got him in his own cot.
Our pram is a 'Beema' by Swallow, but the brand shouldn't make any difference.
I was thinking of doing the same thing. jsut for the fact that its on wheels as well and can be moved aorund easily.
I used the bassinette on the pram for DS to sleep in for the first 4 months, then moved him to his cot. We have the Steelcraft Strider pram. It was really convenient because for his day sleeps I could move him to different rooms and his night sleeps I wheeled him into our bedroom next to the bed.

You can actually buy stands for the bassinette for about $40 depending on the brand, so that you can take it off the pram and put it next to your bed etc. The stands have wheels so you can move them around too.
A friend of mine asked someone in a baby shop about this when she was prg - they told her it's not recommended for all night use, but I seriously can't see the difference between these bassinettes and other kinds :dunno:
Sounds like a great idea, I guess the difference maybe the base mattress on the bassinet, our bassinet (not a bugaboo) but a normal bassinet with a wheel base had a mattress which is breathable. What type of matress is used in the bugaboo bassinet? is it similar matress to the normal standard bassinet which is ok for overnight sleeps?
I did it with Oliver for 4 weeks, and will do it again for the next bub. We have a Quinny Dreami pram bassinet. I think we will buy a stand next time though, as the pram chassis is a bit big for our bedroom.
