Baby Monitors
Just wondering how many people have used a baby monitor and how useful they are. We plan to have bub in with us for the first month or so, but they will be in their room at the other end of the huose after that. We bought a sound and video monitor a couple of months ago but ended up taking it back as it got interference from our cordless phones. Has anyone else had a problem with interference?

Hi shellsie,
we have a baby monitor but havent used it yet obviously. LOL! We dont have cordless phonees though so not sure on that one. I can tell you though that a gf of mine has an angelcare baby monitor and they have cordless phones and get no interference with it.
For peace of mind (when your baby is down the other end of the house) I would get one and if worst comes to worse and you do get interference and someone calls on the phone just turn the monitor off.
Good luck with the upcoming birth of your little one :)

We have ones that came with our breathing monitor and we use it so we can hear Miss M (cos we usually have her door shut cos her big brother likes to wake her up!) and we have cordless phones - no interference.

Thanks everyone, we'll look at getting an Angelcare Monitor, guess it's worth it just for the peace of mind.

We found we sometimes got interference and sometimes didn't. I could never work out what was causing the interference. I found the monitor kept me awake at night as I heard every little noise. Unless your house is large you wont need one as bubs will cry loudly when they need you. We have have a bedroom & an ensuite & WIR between us and bub but could hear him loud and clear every time even if doors were shut. The only reason we had the monitor was that we'd been given it.

We sometimes and and sometimes don't get interference, when we do we just change channels (on the monitor, has an 'A' and 'B' channel) and that fixes it for a bit. It's fisher price.
