Worried that it willnever happen =[

Hi, im starting to get very concerned about me never going to fall pregnant, my fiance and i have been trying to to conceive now for about 4 months i never imagined it to take so long. Im also very worried because i have heard that irregular periods mean infertility and mine are very irregular i will only get them once every so many months so its very hard to keep track of i have been to the doctors about it and was put on the pill but stopped because of us trying to fall preg. i would like to see a doctor but not sure what to say? we are having sex every night? also is there any special hints or tips to fall preg?? thankyou! xoxo

It can take a couple with no known fertility issues up to 12 months to conceive, most doctors will do investigations after you have been trying for that period, however, in some circumstances they will begin investigations earlier.

When I had my Implanon removed the doctor asked if I would like another and I said no because we are trying to coneive (TTC). I think if you just let your GP now that you are TTC as there are pre-pregnancy checkups that they may wish to do. If your periods (AF) have always been irregular then I would mention this as it may prompt them to look at various issues such as PCOS.

Sometimes it takes a few months to get regular after the pill. How long were you taking it? I was on it for 7 years and it took AGES for my cycle to become regular afterwards. My sister-in-law had a similar experience, she only had 2 periods in 8 months after stopping the pill.
Maybe you could start doing ovulation tests to find out when is the most ideal time is? If your irregular you may have to do them each cycle.
And with the doctors, I was ttc for 8 months and the doc still wouldn't investigate. But you may find one thats a little more helpful.

It can be a frustrating time but hang in there. If AF is is irregular you may like to consider accupuncture who specialises in fertility to help regulate it. I am a long term TTCer, and have seen an accupuncturist to assist with regulating AF amongst other things.

You worries are completely normal. But 4 months is a relatively short time to have been trying. Some people are lucky and can conceive very easily, and others need some help or time.

My advice would be to see your GP. If you don't have a regular one, try and find one who specialises in Family Planning. Make sure you are comfortable with them and take it from there. Let them know that you have just ceased the pill and that your periods are irregular.

They may do some initial tests for you and see if they can help. If not, they may refer you to a specialist to get your cycles under control to make conception easier for you.

my periods have always been like this though when i first every got them i didnt see them again for about a year then i got them again and it was the same thats why i went to the doctors and she put me on the pill and they became regular really fast.
i was on the pill for about 6 months and as soon as i stopped because we where trying for a baby they disappeared again...
iv been off the pill now for around 4 months im pretty sure if that helps at all...

If your periods have always been irregular it probably wouldn't hurt to get a check up by your GP. My periods were really irregular. My cycles would be up to 120 days plus. So yeah it made it hard to fall pg. I was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries. But as you can see from my signature we have been blessed with a gorgeous DD and another bundle on the way so it is possible darl. Because of your irregular cycles I would be inclined to get a check up just in case. Lets you know where you are starting from.

Im in a simliar situation as you. We have been TTC about 4 months also, i was on the pill for 3 years in which time i had regular period. In the last 8 months that i have stopped taking it, my period has nearly always been late increasing time between each by 5 days or so. Im begining to think that i dont even ovulate!

hi there me and my DF are young and had been trying for 2 years and still nothing, finally got some tests done and found the problem, i wish i had done it earlier, there is no harm in getting his sperm tested and your hormones and his aswell just to get piece of mind, also get all std;s ruled out aswell. Also if your period doesnt get regular u may not be ovulating and will need medication perhaps talk to the doctor about getting your cycles sorted and some investigation on that, also have u tried using ovulation tests or monitors, they sell them on e bay maybe even take your temps to see whats happening u can google all this, its called tracking your cycle. good luck, 4 months is still a very short time and it isnt unusal to take up to a year. also have sex every other day, may make a difference. GOOD LUCK!!!

It can take quite a few months after the pill to regulate your periods. If i were you I would start seeing an Acupuncturist. They help regulate your cycle and your hormones too.

It took my DH and I 8 months to conceive our baby. (this is our first) Prior to TTC I had been off the pill for 6mths too. So it took some time for us to conceive and it was so frustrating and i started getting really worried.....
I started seeing an Acupuncturist after 6mths of ttc (and 12mths off the pill by that stage) and 8 weeks later, was pregnant!!

Good luck hun. It can take up to 12mths for a normal healthy couple to conceive too. Have sex as often as you feel like it but make sure it doesnt get to the point that it's stressing you out and the fun is taken out of it cos that will only stress your body out.

Irregular periods are usually caused by a hormonal imbalance - which explains why your periods became regular when you started taking the pill, which is essentially a synthetic hormone pill.
However, the pill does not treat the cause of the problem - as has been witnessed when you came off the pill.
