Do cloth nappies complicate your life?

Well i am at a fork in the road.

To sell the lot or not?

DH thinks that my MCN's take up to much of my mine and the amount of fights we have over them is plainly ridiculous.

So wondering if you like MCN's complicate your life?
If it cost the same as sposies would you still use them??

PP, I normally get up in the morning and make myself a cuppa, then i sit down and read the cloth nappy thread. This generally leads to me browsing around for a while and some days I may spend up to a couple of hrs wandering around here. I can tell you that it does interfere with my day. I used to be alot more productive early in the morning than I am now. Adam makes smart alec remarks about me being here, and for now, they are good natured but I could see how that could change.
Do you think that your hubby is resentful of the nappies? or is it the time here combined with the obsession that alot of us seem to be struck down by when the term "fluffy mail" is mentioned.
TBH if adam spent as much time tooling around on a web site as I do, I recon I would get grumpy.

i think with 2 in cloth - i was every 1.5 days. Then hang out, then fold, then just chat about them (no fluffy mail here in a llooooooooooooong time though).

Today we ran out of cloth as it was a little overcast and i hadnt folded them and i think that sparked him again. I made to joke.. oops need to buy more which didnt go down well.

He hates LS them, hates night nappies and hate pooey ones...

I understand our relationship issues atm are much deeper.. but would selling EVERYTHING make it easier???

PP - it is a lot more work with 2 in cloth - I'll admit that. Just one was easy. If its causing you guys distress though - how about you have a little "holiday" from them. Or just do it part time.

It can take up a lot of time. Although, I still get to spend time with DH because I fold my nappies of a night time - after the kids have gone to bed (but before getting DD up at 10pm for her last feed) and we sit down with a cup of tea (well he has a glass of milk - wuss! haha) and we fold them TOGETHER.

I have thought so many times to myself, geez it would be soooo much easier to do disposables, would have so much more time - but I reckon its time well spent - and I'd probably cut down on my time spent on here before I would give up the MCN's.

In short no. I only have 1 in cloth and there is no more rashes from sposies and he has only had an issue with rashes once (I blame his dad cz he didnt change him often enough when he had him but thats another story).
I did find that when I was with XP he had an issue with cloth so to make it simple I did it all and he did baths instead. Made it easy on me as I genuinely enjoy watching tv and putting DS's nappies together and didnt like bathing DS in the begining. I think its about talking it out and seeing if theres a way to reduce the stress in our household

Why don't you sell half and just use cloth part time, or here and there? Maybe that would take some pressure off you a bit.
I agree it's not worth fighting over, but sometimes anything will spark a fight won't it!

Do you ENJOY the time it takes to do cloth nappy stuff?

i dont enjoy washing/folding.
i enjoy showing them off and the niceness for the kids bums.

i am not sure if i can do part time.. i am kinda an all or nothing girl???

I'm a bit of an all or nothing girl myself so I can understand.

How about just using sposies when you know the kids are going to poop (if they are that regular) and at night time?

that is an option mel.

I say just put the others aside - wait for the dust to settle - and then re-evaluate.

I go through phases of liking them...and then hating them. Sposies are so much easier and i dont have to do a thing with them.

I hate the washing and folding bit of cloth. But on the upside they save me alot of money and with soon to be 3 in cloth....every penny saved is not hurting my bank balance as much.

I dont use them at night anymore....i hate the smell and wet feeling when my girls wake up....and i dont like how bulky they are under thieir little butts to sleep on.

I use sposies for: Night, FDC, shops, going out. Cloth is at home only.

PP sorry to hear about the stress that MCN's cause! Is it only MCN's that cause tension? I only ask because sometimes my husband is just generally annoyed, and he picks something to take his frustration out on, when it really isn't the cause of his frustration. e.g. how much time our fish tanks take. It's not really the tanks he is annoyed by, but just his general lack of spare time in general. I hope you don't sell the MCN's only to find that he is really frustrated about something else.

Going half disposie half MCN sounds like a nice compromise, and something we are thinking of doing as well.

I think it can. I think DH laughs at me when I talk about the nappies, but I think it is a little different because it was actually him that was adament about me using cloth in the first place. Environmental nut. lol

I think though that is a pretty bit of fluff worth the problems with your hubby?? And whilst it (obviously) not going to be the whole and most important problem in your relationship atm, the gesture of getting rid of them for his sake may just be the whole and most important sacrifice you make for the sake of your relationship. It may just make him aware that you are serious about things and allow you both to actually address the main issue without it being masked. iykwim.
