Doesn't want to be wrapped but can't sleep un-wrapped!!

DD is 7 months old and we're having lots of trouble with sleeps. Whenever I wrap her she manages to get her arms out immediately, which is fine, but then she can't fall asleep with her arms flapping around! She's also started rolling over in her cot and crying because she's on her tummy, then when I roll her over she rolls straight back :wall:

She used to go to sleep fairly fuss free in her cot, but after our holiday last month where I ended up feeding her to sleep most days, she now she relies on it for sleep 100% of the time.

Today I have been trying to get her down for a nap since 8am and I've just got her up again after she threw a massive screaming tanty!

Anyone have any ideas on how to work this out?

i have the same problem with Jack...he fights being wrapped..BUT can't sleep unwrapped...knocks himself out with his flayling arms!!!
maybe wrap with one arm out IYKWIM???

Hi Katones, I tried leaving one arm out yesterday and no luck, she just can't relax her arms, she holds them out like she's riding a motorbike!

Has anyone had luck going cold turkey with the wrap? Once I've got her sleeping un-wrapped I might work on her sleeping without needing to be BF to sleep... I think I read in another thread that 7 months is a common time for sleep troubles?

My son went cold turkey with his wrap because I was sooooooooooo sick of having to go in all the time and try re-wrap and settle and blah blah blah!!! :wall: :wall:
It was hard but it took a few days for him to learn to nod off himself. There were heaps of tears because he didn't know what to do with himself but I would go in and stroke his head and sing and if he got to the point that he was getting hysterical I would pick him up and comfort him until he stopped crying. This went on for about 4 days. That was 5mths ago and he goes off to sleep quite happily by himself now. :p

Both my SIL and my GF have a wrap/bag kind of thing from ebay and swear by it.

It's called Woombie, have a look on there under the Baby - muslin, swaddling wraps section.

My bub slept in a sleeping bag from 2 weeks. He's been a fantastic sleeper. He's now sleeping with either a sheet or blanket depending on the weather.

I was told by a MCHN that it is not necessary to reposition a bub from their tummy once they can roll comfortably - probably not the case if the bub is wrapped though. If not wrapped & are good rollers they will roll themselves out of danger... that's what I was told.

we're also fans of the sleeping bag (since about 10 weeks) when he started "houdini-ing" out of wraps(or we're bad wrappers :lol:)... Maybe bubs could roll back if in a sleeping bag? Don't know how the motorcycle arms would go though... my little man just likes to starfish... both arms straight out either side.

Also, are you doing the angel wrap (i.e. hands up) or the regular wrap? Maybe play with that too?
