red raised lumps after 2month needles?

DS had his 2month needles around 2 weeks ago and over the last week i've noticed that a red lumpy rash type thing has developed around the injection site on one of his legs. I mentioned it to the nurse at his last check (about 1 week ago) and she wasn't too concerned but since then its doubled in size. Its about half the size of a 5 cent peice and is roundish (probably because its around the injection site??) It doesn't seem to bother DS and he's just as chirpy as usual. Should i be worried? Could he be alergic to something in the needles?

My DS had a lump under the needle site for about a month. The redness faded, but the lump remained... It went down eventually, and it is listed on the side effects... Not nice, but it didnt bother my DS. He got it again after his 6 month needles too.

My twins both got a little hard lump on their legs from one of the needles too. It eventually went down. If you are ever not sure though it is always best to get it checked out. Are you due to go see a MCHN soon at all?

Thanks ktgirl and rufalina, Ds also got a lump under the injection site (so did DS1 with each needle) but this is different.. it almost looks like a ringworm?? but not as scaly..like a sort of wobbly circle right on top of the injection site with little raised dots/lumps about the size of a pin head..sounds weird doesn't it? He doesn't see the MCHN for another 6 weeks...not sure if i should wait it out or take him to the doctor...is there a number or info line i can call for advice on immunisations?

If your not sure I would take him to the Dr. It is better to be on the safe side. I am not sure about a help line. There probably is one but I have never had to use it myself. Hope all is ok. Let us know how you go.

Well it turns out it is a ringworm :o The poor little thing must have caught it off his big brother who i think caught it at playgroup?? I thought i got rid of it all i guess not :doh:
Dh ran down to the chemist yeterday and got some antifungal stuff so i'll be applying that like mad to get rid of it. Its weird that it's directly over the injection site, maybe the little break in the skin from the needle provied and entry for the fungi??
Anyway at least i know what it is and its nothing serious. Looks like i'll be washing all the sheets and towels today :wall:

oh no.... your instincts were right.. well at least you got it sorted, and can treat him now.
