Hi all,
I am really interested in anyone who would like to share there VBAC2 stories with me if you live in Melbourne. I am investigating it as I hope to VBAC2 in the future and would be very greatful for any advice good or bad and on were to go or not to go! :pray:

I'm so sorry but I don't have any positive news :( (although I'm not in Melbourne). I'm a midwife and there isn't a OB that will do a VBA2C anywhere around here. I'm so sorry but I've got everything crossed that you will find a supportive OB and you will achieve your much wanted VBAC.
I'm not 100% sure but I think Armieh is going to try for a VBA2C so hopefully she might have some more positive news for you.

i just read a wonderful birthstory of a woman in perth (where i live) who had one on monday. :dance:
she had her little boy at King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH)

Your best bet is to Homebirth with an Independant Midwife and I have read of a lady in Geelong who did just that with midwives from melbourne.
Warragul have a dedicated VBAC program at their hospital even though they are an hour from the east side of melbourne.
Me, I am VBA2Cing in a private hospital in the very south east of melbourne with the support of my OB and having an independant midwife with me at home until it's time to go to hospital. Then she supports me at hospital. If my OB wasn't supportive I would be hombirthing and using the public hospital as back up.
Having said that, both my CS were elective so I have never laboured, so I don't have the usual FTP or CPD reasons that OB's give so as to not to support VBAC.

I can share a great VBAC story but not VBA2C, sorry...
I have had 2 CS and had to battle to get my way, but through a private midwife I found out about the caseload program at sunshine hospital that does not exclude "high risk" women like me, and I have been assigned a midwife and except for a couple of "conditions" we are going for VBAC after 2 CS! Regardless of whether they support you, what it comes down to is you just say NO. rReally know your stuff, you start to be able to finish sentences for obs and people as the ingrained attitudes are so predictable. When I was told that my scar was probably paper thin I finished the sentence with the ob and had to resist the urge to say jinx!! I then went on to ask did he mean toilet paper thin, or more like duplex, silk is thin, and bullet proof glass is see through, ask them to be specific and back up their assertions, whether or not an ob decides you "need" a CS you decide if you have one!

I will be going for a VBA2C (when I get pregnant - no plans just yet, DD isn't very old yet!!) and if it helps any, my OB up here (Queensland) said that there is absolutely no difference between a woman going for a VBAC or VBA2C because there is absolutely no evidence to suggest there is more risk after 2 c-sections. There just isn't enough documentated cases to have a risk assessment. (Probably because most hospitals won't let you try!)
If you were up here, I could recommend a great OB and hospital.
Get yourself the right support behind you, and you can do anything!!!

i planned a homebirth vbac in june and sadly it ended in transfer & repeat c/s due to obstruction. i am keen also to try again for vba2c if we have a 3rd. hannah, coul you email your ob details as due to complications, home birth is now not an option for me sadly. will keep my eyes on this thread, i join you mykids on your research quest.

I am in Melbourne - outer east (dandenong ranges), so morningtom peninsula would (no doubt) be too far. However when I get enough posts, I would love to know what you have found out.
GardeningKate - I like what you say about being informed. I have been told that my scar "may have been ready to rupture", so I am afraid that I would be turned away by any Obs to "give me a shot" at VBAC.
I am also saddened that I will never be able to waterbirth let alone birth at home. My first birth was SO hospital-clinical-sterile & cold that I chose to homebirth second time round only to end up in theatre second time.
Is it possible to find a "warm" and caring hospital, and an Obs that believes in me? I know I can find a midwife that does (I hired 2 independent midwives for birth #2 - simply wonderful essential support)

Where in melbourne are you??? I had a vba2c earlier this month. I had an awesome ob called Dr David Simon who is based in Warragul. He has amazing statistics for succesful Vbac's. (currently 3/4 succesful). He is amazing and th hospital also have other support for women wanting a vbac. This includes the KYM (know your midwife) clinic where you meet three midwifes who are experienced in vbac. They are oncall and will be the ones to attend your labor and birth. I also hired a independant midwife who does homebiths to assist but she was more for the emotional support.
